A blood curdling scream pierced the air.

It happened during the night, swiftly and softly. There was a bone chilling wind, and the trees howled. It was frightening the way the wind sometimes stop, like it knew what was going to happen.

The moment the wind stopped, that's how Cambria knew something was off, something bad was going to happen.

She was sitting in the secret cave her father built during the war way back when, it was no longer in use, of course, but Cambria liked to cuddle up with a warm blanket made of the finest wool they could buy and read a leather bound book. Her family always knew where she was, but they never liked to bother her.

The was a draft in this tunnel, where the wind held the secrets of years past and Cambria liked to listen to the pitter patter of the rain as it beat against the ground above.

The scream caught her off guard, making her jump in fright. She threw the blanket off and went to go see what was wrong. As she lifted the trap door, fast at first and then back down when she heard a strange mans' voice. It was rougher and harsher than her fathers and it was heavier than any or her brothers. It was a voice she had never heard before, but yet seemed oddly familiar.

There was enough room to see through the carpet above but she could barely make out a body laying crumbled on the ground and her brothers and sisters huddled around, shaking. Her father was down on his knees, hands covering his face, crying.

"Where is my mother?" Cambia wondered.

"Where is it?" The harsh voice came again, making my father twitch.

Her fathers voice came back, "Sir, I don't know what your asking for, please leave us. You have done enough damage already."

"WHERE IS IT?" The man yelled, with a slap across the fathers face.

Cambria's youngest sister, Lila, gasped and burst into tears. Beau, Cambria's older brother, began to comfort her but it was no use.

Never had such brutality been used in this house, even when her father and mother were mad, they oft spoke in whispers instead of yelling to show there anger, Cambria's father believed in peace, he said no harsh words.

"Bring her here." The rough man barked at his companion. Cambria thought that he was talking about her and she bent down, covering her eyes but instead he briskly walked over to Lila, picked her up and walked back to Cambria's father, placing her in front of him. Lila's cries became screams when the man touched her and she thrashed around, she calmed when she was placed before her father, comforted. But for some reason, the father did not reach out to her.

"Daddy." Lila said and wrapped her arms around her father and more tears fell from his eyes. He knew that she was going to be hurt.

Only just then, had Cambria's realized who the crumbled body had belonged too. A dark, red substance seemed to seep out around the sides. But slight movements still came from it.

"No no, not my mother" Cambria screamed inside her head.

"Please, I beg of you, please don't hurt her." The father whimpered.

"Only if you tell me where it is." The man threatened. He was a big man, his clothes were dark and looked tattered, he worn a knife around his belt like his companion but this man's head was bald and a large tattoo was on his head.

"Your wife, she was always a beauty. With her long black locks of hair and oh, those beautiful curves" The bald man winked at him. "You made her suffer more than what she needed. Shame, shame. I could've treated her more better." The man beside him let out a loud, cackling laugh.

"I DON'T KNOW WHERE IT IS. IT WAS LOST AFTER I RAN AWAY!" The father yelled. His voice was menacing, every noise in the house and outside had went silent. What was he talking about? When did he run away?

The bald man got right up in the fathers face, "You must know where it is! You can't just lose something as special as that!"

"IT DISAPPEARED, OKAY?! I DO NOT KNOW WHERE IT IS! Now please, leave us be!"

"I can't do that now can I? Not after what you did to us." The bald man grinned horribly.

That was the first time Cambria was genuinely scared for her life.
