“Aether, how wonderful is this world?” The younger twin says to her big brother. He smiles at her, happiness and love clear on his face. He loves his sister, she is always there for him when he gets anxious, or when he is losing a battle or even when he forgets how to tie his shoes. And he is there for her when she can’t control her anger, when she gets lost on a journey and for when she forgets how to write.
Both of our parents left us at an extremely young age, so everything we know is self-taught, luckily for us, I’m better at brain than brawn and Luimine is the exact opposite. Though she does know a few things that I don’t. We both are excellent cooks and take turns at everything we do. I don’t know what I would do without her.
Speaking of which, when our parents left us, they sent us out of our homeland. We have been going through countless realms trying to get there. We’ve fought monsters who have no head, spiders that fly, and boars who are twice our size. Not that we are all that tall.
“Sister, we are almost there.” I smile at her. She grins at me back but goes back to looking around as always on-gaurd. I doubt that anything would attack us here. We walk along a marble white path with gold swirls that shine in the natural light. This was the path that would bring us to the next realm, the one that leads to the rest of our family.
I can’t believe that Luimine and I had gone so far. We were almost home. Almost. Excited laughter bubbles up inside me, making Luimine smirk at me. Soon we are both laughing, happy as we could be.
As I look up at the sky, I see that there are red and black cubes apearing out of the air. I tap Lumine's shoulder, making her aware of the threat. She turns to face the threat, sword ready.
“Travellers.” A thundering voice echoes around us “You will not go any further, the gods forbid it.”
All of a sudden the air pops and a tall slim figure floats there. She has fair skin that is marked with red and black squares along her arms. She has snowy white hair that floats carelessly around her head. Her yellow-golden eyes glare daggers at the twins and she raises her hand to the side, summoning a glowing cube. The cube soon fades into black. She looks at us again and flicks the cude towards us, barely missing us. Lumine yells out a battle cry and rushes towards her, I follow closely behind. We both slash at her, but she disappears again and ends up behind me. Lumine curses and pulls me away from her. She grins and raises both hands this time, clasing them together. Cubes grow from the platform we stand on and Lumine and I jump in unison, activating our gliders.
We aim to hit her, Lumine behind her and myself infront. But the girl raises her hands to us both and I can see more glowing cubes. I stop midair, ready to warn my sister but it’s too late. I hear the clang of metal as she’s stripped of her weapon. Black red swarm her, and I scream in panic and rage.
