I'm Going Back

Chapter 12

Back with Hana, she walked to a rainy street wondering where she could get the money to pay for her friend's treatment. As she sat down at a coffee and thought of a way to make money a similar voice called out,

           " Hello?"

Hana looked up to see the same old man she met at the game venue with dementia. With a surprised tone she said,

           " Sir?"

The old man walked closer and said,

           " It's you, right? Player 456."

           " Y-es sir, that's me."

           " What are you doing in this neighborhood?"

           " Oh, I live around here."

Then old man said I see and then started laughing at what Hana said and then she asked,

            " Do you live in this neighborhood too?"

             " No, I have a friend who lives nearby ha ha. I have no place to go at the moment, so I'm staying there for a while. Gosh."

Hana looked at him with a concerned look and raised her hand and said,

             " Would you like to sit?"

              " Sure!"

After the old ,man sat down, Hana continued to say,

              " I can't believe I ran into you here."

              " Yea, what are the chances? I guess we were meant to meet."

As the old man caught his breath, Hana picked up a cup of water that she was drinking and asked him if he wanted some and he said sure, Then Hana remembered,

              " Ah, is your head okay?"

              " Yes it is."

               " Ah okay. I apologize, I don't have any food."

The old man just laughed as he bent down at the bag he was carrying and pulled out dried up ramen and they both shared the pack of ramen. As the man was about to pour another glass of water, Hana stopped him and said,

            " Sir, allow me.."

            " Thank you."

After she poured another glass of water, the old man drank it and then said,

             " I...decided to go back there."

             " To go back where?"

After Hana asked that question, the man didn't say anything and right then and there, Hana realized what he meant by 'there'

             " As you know, I don't have long left to live anyway. I don't want to sit around waiting for my death like this. You never know, I might end up winning there."

             " When we played Red Light, Green Light, I finished the game before you did."

The man said that with a big smile on his face and then Hana said,

             " But still, that place is..."

Before Hana could say whatever she has to say, the old man said,

             " After I came back out here, I realized everything they said was true. Life out here is more tormenting."

As the old man chuckled again, Hana began to think about what the man just said, her life isn't as great, plus, she needs money for her friend's treatment.

Everyone who received a card waited in the same place where they were told to meet up. Just like before, the same van pulled up in front of those who decided to join again. Once Hana was inside the van, just like before, the driver pressed a button and that's when the same gas went out and instantly put Hana to sleep. After the driver opened the windows to let out the gas, he rolled up the windows and drove off.

But the only person that wasn't affected by the gas was Sae-Byeok. She held her breath long enough for the masked man to roll down the windows, she now can fully know where she's being taken to.
