8 ~~EXT. Y/N'S MOTHER'S HOUSE~~ 8

Peter drives into the driveway of y/n's mother's house.

Y/n gets off of the scooter.

PETER
Tell her I said hi. And Jake too.

Y/N
I will.

Y/n kisses Peter and then begins walking up to the front door.

PETER
Y/n, wait. How are you going to get home?

Y/N
I don't live that far. I might just hop from rooftop to rooftop. Or just take the subway.

Peter smiles.

PETER
Alright. Well, see you later.

Y/N
See ya.

Peter drives away and y/n walks up to the front door.

She knocks on it.

After a minute, it opens to reveal y/n's mother.

Y/N'S MOTHER
Y/n. What are you doing here at this hour? Is everything alright?

Y/N
No, it's not. It's Peter.

Y/N'S MOTHER
Peter? What happened?

Y/N
...I'm gonna ask him to marry me!

Y/n's mother stares at her with a shocked expression.

Y/N'S MOTHER
Oh my goodness! Congratulations! Here, come inside and tell me all about it!

Y/n's mother steps to the side and y/n comes into the house.

9 ~~INT. Y/N'S MOTHER'S HOUSE~~ 9

Y/n and her mother sit on the couch.

Y/N'S MOTHER
So, you're going to propose to him?

Y/N
Yes.

Y/N'S MOTHER
Are you sure you don't want him to do it?

Y/N
Mom.

Y/N'S MOTHER
Hey, I'm just saying. I know you're not really into traditions and all that.

Y/N
Yeah, I'm not. Besides, I really love him and I just don't want to beat around the bush about it.

Y/N'S MOTHER
Well, I'm proud of you and I'm happy for you. I always knew you two were destined to be with each other.

Y/N
Mom.

Y/N'S MOTHER
What? He's a good kid and you're a good kid. It's the perfect match! Not to mention you're both incredibly smart.

Y/N
And superheroes.

Y/N'S MOTHER
What was that?

Y/N
Nothing.

Y/N'S MOTHER
Do you have something planned?

Y/N
Uh yeah. We're going to this really fancy restaurant on Monday and I'm gonna put this ring into his glass.

Y/n pulls the ring she was admiring from the shop window earlier that day out of her pocket.

Her mother gasps.

Y/N'S MOTHER
Oh y/n, it's beautiful.

Y/n hands it to her mother who begins to examine it.

Y/N'S MOTHER
This must've cost a fortune.

Y/N
Not really.

Y/N'S MOTHER
Well, I'm sure it doesn't help that you're a successful author now.

Y/N
Mom, I only have one book published.

Y/N'S MOTHER
See? Successful.

Y/N
I didn't make that much from it. That's why I still live in that crummy apartment with that horrible landlady.

Y/n's mother chuckles.

She's still examining the ring.

Y/N'S MOTHER
Any particular reason you bought a ring with a green stone?

Y/N
Uh...nope. No reason at all.

Y/N'S MOTHER
Are sure it's not because it's his favorite color or because he looks good in green?

Y/N
Mom!

Y/N'S MOTHER
I'm just teasing you, darling. I think it's wonderful. What you're doing and the ring.

Y/n smiles.

Y/n's mother hands y/n the ring back.

She grabs it and puts it back into her pocket.
