I stood in the living room of my condo wearing an insanely expensive white lingerie ensemble matched with five inch stilettos-my getup is a stark contrast to my caramel colored skin. My hair was done up in curls and my nails were freshly manicured. As I sipped my Ciroc mixed with pineapple juice I noticed one thing was missing in the scene: my man.

Michael texted me an hour ago that he was on the way and I dressed in my lingerie half an hour ago but he had yet to show up. A part of me knew where he was: he was with her. I couldn't blame him though. After all, she was his wife.

I know, you're thinking I'm a homewrecker-but that's not the case. Michael and I have a eight year history. He met his wife a year later and juggled us both. I knew about her but she didn't know about me and that's the way it's been for years.

I even attended his wedding and I was tempted to speak up when the preacher asked if anyone knew why Michael and Paula shouldn't be joined in holy matrimony. I had my best friend, Bianca, with me for emotional support and she literally had to pin my hand down to keep me from revealing to his and her family that I had been boning Michael before and during his relationship with Paula. Hell, I would be after her too.

I just wish after would hurry up and get here! I was tired of sharing Michael. Who was I kidding-I was tired of being the side piece!

I heard my garage door opening and a car being driven into it. I placed my drink down and turned to face the door that led to the garage as I heard the door closing. I heard the engine to his car being killed and I heard the car door opening and closing. A few seconds later he walked into my home.

When he saw me his sea green eyes immediately scanned my body. I watched him lick his lips and then his lips formed into a smile. His handsome face bore a slight five o'clock shadow. I scanned my eyes over his body and saw he wore a simple gray tee and black sweats. Sneakers were on his feet and he held a wrapped gift.

Christmas in February, I scoffed.

"You look fucking hot!" Michael exclaimed and placed his car keys on the hook by the door next to mine.

He came further in the room and stopped a few inches from me. He reached out his free hand to me and I placed my hand in his. He pulled me to him and placed a kiss on my lips. He held out the gift once he pulled away.

"I'm sorry for being late. This is for you. I picked it up earlier today, I hope you like it." he whispers in my ear.

I accept the gift and Michael pulls me to my couch. He sits down and places me in his lap. I feel his erection against my bum as I slowly unwrap the long rectangular box. I open it and see a diamond pendant necklace.

"It's beautiful." I state in an uninterested tone.

It was beautiful like all the other gifts he had given me over the years.

"Not as beautiful as you." Michael moaned and placed kisses on my neck.

His short, dark hair tickles my chin and I fight the urge to respond to him like I usually do. Like I said, I was becoming tired of sharing the man I was in love with.

I placed the box on my coffee table and get off Michael's lap. He watches me as I head back to the bar and grab my drink. He joins me and grabs a glass. He only fills it a quarter of the way with cognac. He sips it and I stare at him out of the corner of my eye. I can tell he is fighting the urge to bring up why I'm being standoffish.

I finish my drink the same time he does. He takes my hand and leads me to my bedroom. I am surprised he hasn't said anything about my behavior. I feel him come up right behind me and he hugs me against his tall frame.
