"K-Nine go with the others and let Nurse Joy heal you."
Arcanine growled as Nurse Joy got near. 'I won't leave your side.'
"Go with her! You need-"
'You need me here with you! More than ever...' K-Nine let the bark trail off.
Pyro smiled and let out a light laugh. "You and that damn nature of yours." He laughed more. Soon the tears began to stream down his face; laughter soon turned into sobbing.
"She...she was suppose to be here when I won. When WE won! So why? Why isn't she here now?!"
'She said she wanted to see the day you were truly happy. It seems that during that battle, you finally were.'

To keep the gym trials fair and balanced, there have been some rules put into place.
1) Once the battle begins, neither Challenger nor Champion are allowed to swap in or out pokemon during battle. Once a pokemon is verified, it may not be switched out for another. If any participant has more than 6 pokemon, a judge will hold the remainder until the end of the battle. If this rule is broken, the offender will suffer a penalty of having that pokemon removed from the battle and unable to substitute it.
2) Certain items have been banned from entering the stadiums of both Gym Leaders and the Champion. Items such as Alola's Z-Crystals and Kalos and Hoenn Keystones have been deemed impractical and having the latter will result in immediate disqualification and law enforcement to confiscate it.
3) Although all pokemon are allowed to be entered into the Gym Trials, certain pokemon, legends and mystics, have been rumored to have been caught and/or tamed. In case such has been found true, any and all pokemon that fall in that category are banned from entering the stadium. Ditto is included on this list for the ability to transform into any and all pokemon (Conflicts with Rule #1).
4) Certain items found in Galar are allowed to be used in battle if fused with a Battle Necklace thus creating a Battle Item*. Once a Battle Item is verified by a judge, it cannot be swapped out once the battle begins. If one is in possession of more than 6 Battle Items, a judge will hold on to them until the end of the battle. Any battle participant(s) may swap an already verified Battle Item for another if the battle has not started.
*The following items have been made to be consumable after a pokemon or trainer has exhausted its use. Some items have been modified to balance its use.
-Weakness Policy: Greatly increases a pokemon's special and physical move'(s) damage output until the pokemon has fainted or the battle ends.
-Red Card (Exempt from Rule #1)
-Eject Button (Exempt from Rule #1)
-Choice Scarf: Exponentially increase the speed a move is either projected, acted, or enacted. Move such as Quick Attack, i.e., can be performed at an equal level of Extreme Speed. This gives a pokemon's chosen move priority
-Choice Specs: Greatly increases the damage output of any single ranged or special attack. For example, a thundershock could produce the same damage as a thunderbolt and that of a thunder. Upon doing so, a pokemon is disabled from using it again as result of "burn out".
-Choice Band: This item will increase the damage output of any singular, physical or contact move to an impossible level. As such, normal moves will end up causing recoil to the user regardless of its ability and moves such as Flare Blitz or Brave Bird can have recoil become exponentially higher, possibly fainting the user.
-Focus Band: Lessens the damage the wearer would receive with a chance to remain as the wearer's held item.
5) Gym Leaders and the Champion may have set their own rules for their own stadiums, granted that they do not conflict with the rules #1-4.
These rules are placed to allow fair yet competitive battles to take place within stadiums whether it be Challenger, Gym Leader, or Champion. All rules must be accounted before a battle may commence.
Note: Rules can be altered or added, and if such were to take place, it would be implemented at the end of the year's Gym Trails.
WITH THE RULES OUT OF THE WAY: ENJOY YOUR GYM TRAILS AND GOOD LUCK!
