It had all begun when Sunghoon and his fellow knights had decided to celebrate their victory in a local tavern.
In addition to the locals' respectful greetings that they had received when booking a table for seven, the heavy smell of alcohol welcomed them as soon as they stepped through the door. Making Sunghoon scrunch his nose in disgust.
No– Sunghoon did not drink alcohol very often or loiter in taverns late at night. In fact, he detested the aroma of alcohol.
Despite this, the knight also knew that today was special, since gaining victory in a battle is not a simple task. So he let the others be, chuckling as they all rushed to their table, placing orders one by one.
In a blur of jokes and laughter, moments passed. It was a conversation that seemingly never came to an end. Or that's what Sunghoon thought until he walked in.
No matter how absurd it may sound, suddenly the whole tavern fell silent to Sunghoon's ears, the laughs fading as he couldn't remove his gaze from the boy he could only assume was the tavern's singer.
The boy in question wore a white knee-length tunic with sleeves rolled to the elbows. As a golden jewelled belt was tightly wrapped around the waist. On the underside, there was a black braies. His waistcoat was coal black with a lapis blue collar, and its buttons seemed nothing less silver. Silk gloves adorned his hands, while a crescent shaped earring danced as he moved.
It wasn't a lie if told that Sunghoon was smitten at the sight of the boy, and his heart was stuttering against his ribs.
Sunghoon was thrown back into reality as he felt a light punch against his bicep.
He was ready to brush his intense staring off but when he found all of his companions staring at him, he knew was caught red-handed and there was no turning back.
"Are you perhaps planning on spending a night with him ?" asked one of his companions, causing Sunghoons cheeks to burn the same shade as the wine he held. Truth be told, he wasn't intending to do anything about this, much less invite the tavern singer for an uncommitted night.
No. Even if this sounded hopelessly romantic, all things have their own value and despite that they had only just met, Sunghoon was confident that the boy who resembled the lunar, dressed in silver, was worth much more than what his companions were suggesting.
—
The light breeze played with the dust and leaves that scattered across the pathway as Sunghoon ran a hand through his hair. Recently, he had been frequenting the very tavern where he currently stood outside. The reason, none other than the 'lunar boy' (as sunghoon had named him).
He was certain that his friends were aware of it all; the constant teasing about his late-night outings proved it.
He brushed off his thoughts as the creek of the old oak tavern door reached his ears. His gaze drifted to the person who had just emerged. And when his gaze landed on the individual, he was left breathless.
It was the tavern singer– The Lunar boy– and he was definitely staring at the knight, a soft smile dancing across his features. The smile was something Sunghoon could describe as a night in winter with clear skies when the moon shone bright. It was endearing, effortlessly endearing and Sunghoon might have found himself falling harder.
"Hail, Commander Park" He spoke, the dulcet tone of his voice similar to the evening breeze. Oh god, The pretty boy knew who Sunghoon was
"God save you, Sunghoon is fine, Please ." The knight replied, breathless, somewhat desperate.
The Lunar boy giggled. The sound had Sunghoon on cloud nine
"I must say Sunghoon, I've been noticing you staring at me for weeks now—" He said in between his giggles, His silk adorned hands covering his mouth. Elegant.
"I– Um–" Only a stutter could be emitted from Sunghoon, words he was lost of.
"It's fine, I was expecting you to come talk to me but that never happened. Therefore, I decided to act myself." The boy assured, noticing the panicked expression that swept across Sunghoons features.
Oh.
The panic that had risen mere seconds ago left like a rushing wind as a blush similar to a tea rose tinted his cheeks.
"I apologize for keeping you waiting, Perhaps I could make up to you by spending some time with you someplace other than this tavern," Sunghoon said, smiling as his intentions behind the words were practically in a glass closet.
At the sudden offer the pretty boy raised his eyebrows, placing his silk-dressed finger on his chin and acting as if he was contemplating.
"Saturn's Day ?" The knight asked
"Saturn's Day Quarter to Nine at night, I'll be at the Tavern" Spoke the Lunar boy before turning on his heels, ready to leave but not before letting golden whispered words leave his lips.
"My name is Jaeyun."
Pretty name for a Pretty boy, Sunghoon was so in love.
—
Saturn's day arrived later than Sunghoon had anticipated, You couldn't really find it in yourself to blame him though.
Nights were spent sleepless as he could only muster up to think about the Lunar boy– Jaeyun- the name rolled off Sunghoons tongue perfectly, as if it was meant to be - he thought about his voice, his smile, how his eyes crinkled up the slightest bit when he smiled, how the crescent shaped earring he always wore swayed gracefully as he moved, how his silk adorned hands always moved in the air as he talked, as if they were trying to express the meaning behind his words.
Sunghoon was very much in love. He hadn't had an experience like this before but the constant remarks of his friends surely proved something. He hadn't felt roses blooming in his chest when he was with his friends but when he was with the Lunar boy, Sunghoon was swept off his feet by that feeling.
Oh god, the warmth that had often settled on his cheek when he stood by the door watching Jaeyun perform was mulberry red in color.
The Lunar boy was warm, much like apricity, beautiful, like the spring flowers, endearing, just like a moon glade.
He was snapped out of his thoughts as the knights stomped at once, marking the end of training today.
"Alright that's all for today, Remember tomorrow is the 3rd Sun's day of this month, No training hence I advise you to go and spend some time with your families. It's possible that we'll have to engage in war next month due to the bad blood between our majesty and his brother." Sunghoon stated, hands clasped together as he pressed his lips into a thin line once he finished.
The training was finally over and it was quarter from eight, the walk to the tavern was a 15 minute one and maybe arriving there early seemed a little desperate. He was sure Jaeyun wouldn't mind it.
But before all that he had to get changed, Jaeyun might not mind him arriving early but would surely judge him for his sweaty knight attire.
