It all started as a dare. Where I was dared to kiss the most popular guy in school. Caleb Ackerley. No one had planned for me to fall in love. No one planned for us to date either or even get married.
Caleb and I have been a thing for eight years now. We were happy, yeah surely not your typical happy high school sweethearts. We pretended to be happy because my parents were on my case about grandchildren and his parents were on his neck about getting married. So why not make it work huh? But... it didn't work. Too much for high hopes.
We got married four years ago. All his exes had told me one thing, "It would never workout out".
He was a sweet talker and a manipulator. We could just say I am only seeing that now. He had said I was his lucky charm, so we got married. Our marriage was not a blessing. Or close to being a blessing. It was a curse that was perfectly in disguise, like a parasite that kept taking even if you had nothing to give.
Otherwise, I would not be at my husband's wedding with his female best friend. I did not see this coming. I am not good for his image, and he should marry someone who is up there if you get what I mean, or at least that was what he told me.
Funny thing, I couldn't bring myself to cry or feel sad and whatnot. Matter of fact, I was happy for him. And as we all applauded for him, I was only applauding because he had me in this relationship and he fucked me up good. Eight years of my life down the drain, now I have nothing to my name. No baby, a house that can never be my home, no car of mine and no job. Do you see how far he went to keep me with him?
He was smiling at her, a smile he had never shown me in my entire life. My heart was being shredded into tiny zillion gazillion pieces as I got hurt beyond repair. After the trouble, I had been in for him. After the risks, I had taken for him. All the threats I had endured from unknown men because of him. The guys I rejected for him.
