The New Dog

Narrator's P.O.V

 It's almost  summer, and  Kristi is out on the look out for a place to live, but specifically, an alleyway. Finally, after a couple of days or so, she came across what she thought was an empty alleyway. As soon as she averted her body towards the entrance, a gang of cats started to hiss at her while making their presence readable to the Doberman. As big as she was, Kristi decided to turn back and continued to walk down the sidewalk of the big city buildings. No one payed too much mind to her though, mostly because they were  occupied with talking to other people or paying more attention to their phones.

After a whiles

 walk Kristi came to a halt, as she just so eagerly spotted a den type alleyway that was better off empty. The only things inside of the alleyway were a bunch of crates, blankets, and a dug-out hole in the wall hidden behind a thick, slightly shredded cloth. Kristi stepped inside, sniffing all of the large crates, and picked up on all of the scents of the hormones of other dogs that had been marking the crates. After sniffing around for a while, she soon found a couple of unmarked crates, chose one herself, and marked it as her own before climbing into it, drifting off to sleep. A couple of hours later, Kristi woke up to the sounds of nails clinking against the stone floor of the alley. She saw some dog-like shadows, but she was too tired to bark at the figure. Soon she fell back a sleep, but soon was  awoken again by another dog. 

    "Hey, wake up," they said rudely. "I'm not missing breakfast just 'cus some nooby decided that it was a nice day to sleep in." 

    "Oh, sorry," Kristy said shyly. She soon climbed out of her bed-like crate and followed the other dog. When they stopped, they stopped at an ally next to a restaurant where there was a chef giving scraps to the dogs that were standing in front of him. After all of the dogs that were standing outside receiving scraps , they all headed back to the ally that  she fell asleep in.

While Kristi went back into her bed to eat her meal, she saw the other dogs telling each other stories about  fights with a rivaling gang of alley cats, and other random dogs, as well as joking around, and then other people laughing at them. After a while, she got up to go and great every one as the the new dog of the pack. Not every one was very polite while returning their salutation's to her though, especially the dog who woke her up. His name was Daren. Only some of the dogs where a little rude at first, but only because they were Daren's friends. After every one introduced themselves, they all headed to the hole  that was hidden behind the cloth. Before every one entered, asked two middle aged golden retriever twins, whos names where Criss and Cassidy, where the hole lead to. "it leads to an underground meeting spot, common amongst all the stray dogs. We have to go down together as a society of dogs, so that we can keep up with a neighboring  group of alley cats. They like to pull pranks on the humans, and also other strays and pets", is what Criss said. "oh. That makes sense, I guess. Well, what do I do after the meeting??", Kristi asked, still a bit clueless. The two pups thought about the question for a bit. After a while, Criss finally said, "well, I guess 'cuz your new, you can just go chitchat with the other dogs of the pack." "aaannnd~", Cassidy started, " Daren seems to have taken a liking to you~", She said smugly. Kristi could've sworn that she felt her face heat up a little at sudden comment, but paid no mind to it. "Ok, I'll go talk to him, then." Kristi said as she stepped trough the hole. "thanks", Kristi said as she passed through the tunnel. "sure, any time!" they both flashed a friendly smile at her, in which she gladly returned.
