The lights flickered on the weathered staircase near the older part of the building. There was practically no life in sight besides the black haired boy who lay there. His curly hair was still messy from the morning. His light complexion matched that of a ghost. It was as if he hadn't seen the sun in years. He was 17 and decently built for his age. His grades were good but never great, and he never thought of himself as anything more than a loner. He was always alone besides from his cat. The cat almost mirrored him if he were an animal. The fact was that he was completely isolated besides his cat. He'd never had a girlfriend or any friends for that matter. It had been like this since his parents died. They had both left to go to on a date. When they were walking out to their car it happened. Two bullets fired that night taking away the boys only companions in the world. His name was Scorpio. As the fading sky gave way into night the boy walked home into his tiny apartment. The place was quiet which he liked and the neighbors left him alone. That was all he ever wanted, he didn't care that he had to work on his off days most of the time, he didn't care that his house was cluttered and messy, and he certainly didn't care that he was alone. His house was the way he liked it. As he took off his backpack his cat, midnight, brushed against his leg purring. "Ok, ok I'll feed you don't worry" he said walking towards the kitchen. He opened the cabinet and took out the last bit of cat food. He was running out of money and time. He couldn't keep this up forever and he knew he would have to find more work. He Laid down in his bed and thought about tomorrow.
The night faded into day quickly and Scorpio hurriedly ran around trying to prepare for school. As he threw his backpack over his shoulder he noticed someone he had never seen before. The mixed girl had dark brown hair and was about 5'1. She was his new neighbor. Her and a whole group of girls were seemingly following him. He looked back at them and realized who they were. It was Leo, Gemini, And Sagittarius. To him they were the definition of annoying. As they walked forward a man ran over to join the group, it was Aries, all the girls laughed and he leaned in to kiss Gemini. Aries was the signature of the school, he was big, he was tough, and he played football. All the girls wanted him and he knew it. At the moment he was dating Gemini but before her was Capricorn and before her was Pisces. He never really loved any of them he just exploited them for their bodies. As they finally got to the building and we're going their separate ways Gemini tripped right next to Scorpio. He tried to help her up but Aries ran over and shoved him out of the way. Gemini looked up at him a seemingly scared. "Stop touching my fucking woman you piece of shit nobody!" Aries yelled. Scorpio backed up wondering what was wrong with the brute. Leo and the other women cheered while Gemini stood there kind of startled. So much for that Scorpio thought as he turned to leave. As he left Aries shouted "serves you right pussy" ugh thought Scorpio the one time try to help someone out I almost get in a fight. He walks to the bathroom to clear his mind for class when he heard someone faintly crying through the wall. He questioned if to say anything when he heard a deafened scream. He then quickly walked out and hesitantly opened the girls bathroom door. "A-are you alright" he stuttered, walking forward slowly he saw Aries bulky figure in the bathroom. "Please help me" Gemini cried. Aries walked forward "look what we have here" he snickered. Scorpio backed up to the wall worried about what would happen. Out of nowhere Scorpios fist met Aries face and blood poured out of his mouth. "Now you're fucked you piece of shit" Aries bellowed charging at him at full speed. Luckily Scorpio moved and the behemoth smashed into the wall. Scorpio went to throw a punch when Aries caught it inches away from his face. "Please" Aries scoffed pinning Scorpio to the floor. As Aries fist neared back Gemini appeared over him with her makeup stained with tears. "Fuck you" she cries as she grabbed the back of his neck. Using this opportunity Scorpio quickly pounded on his face and he soon went limp. "Thanks" Scorpio said as he diverted his eyes. "Ah" she screamed and ran into a stall to put her clothes in again. When she left the stall she looked around for him but he was gone. As she walked out the door she. Turned and kicked Aries in the face. Scorpio ran and went back to the older part of the school building where he was the day before . "Fuck, fuck, fuck" he muttered. "What the hell am I supposed to do now." He left the school and ran home before the bell had rang. He walked in his apartment and flopped down on the bed. He laid there thinking about everything, his money problems , what had happened with Gemini, and how lonely he was now. The red light from the room shown through like a beacon over his focus was broken by a knock at the door. He walked over and opened it. "We got a job, pack your shit" his uncle said unenthusiastically. "Alright, alright lemme get ready" Scorpio said turning to walk back into the bedroom. He stared at the bottom left drawer before opening it. The gun sat their and he waited a second before picking it up. He slowly put the magazine inside the gun and grabbed his mask from the drawer. The last time he had seen his uncle was two months prior. He hated doing these jobs, they were usually robberies but the last one went very bad. His uncle was forced to kill the homeowner and two cops before they ran into the woods to find the getaway car. He hadn't heard from his uncle since making him think that he was probably in jail but here he was with the next job. As he walked out of the room 4 bullets fired. His body crumbled to the floor. He slowly slided his back to the wall. his uncle knelt down and slowly did the cross pattern over him. "It's just business kid" he said walking out of the apartment. About 10 minutes later Gemini showed up and noticed his door open and ran over to him. "Oh no, oh no" she muttered while pulling her phone to call emts. "You'll be okay I promise you" she reassured. As the number dialed he opened his eyes and slowly smiled bearing his blood stained teeth the pool of blood grew as it leaked from his chest. The paramedics quickly got there and Gemini explained what she knew. She knew little of the situation besides the fact that her supposed savior from earlier was lying on deaths door with a gun and a mask in his hand. She hid the gun and mask in her pants staining them with blood. She didn't know why she did it but knew it would help him. The blare of the ambulance siren was the last thing he heard before losing consciousness
