"Hey, are you okay?" A deep husky voice laced with concern greets my throbbing head. I open my eyes slowly, and I was welcomed by a gorgeous blonde boy. His hair was styled in a messy kind of way, and it looked like he just woke up. He had mysterious light blue eyes, with a little bit of green in them. You would be able to see the green in them from far away.

He looked at me and held his hand out to me. I took his hand and while I was getting up I was saying sarcastically,

"Oh yeah, I just ran into the newbie and I fell onto the ground. To be honest, I feel like sh-."
I was interrupted by Tyler's scream. "LANGUAGE SUMMER!!!" I was gonna say I feel like a shell had whacked my head a billion times..Everyone in the lunchroom turned around to see what was happening. You could basically hear the crickets in the room.
When Tyler realized what he said, his face turned into a bright red.

"Nothing to see here guys, get back to lunch," Alexis said with a bright smile.
Everyone turned back to their tables whispering to their friends about what happened.

"I'm Blake by the way."
I turned to look at the blonde boy. "Um, it's nice to meet you Blake. I'm Summer." I said in a nervous tone. I saw him open his mouth to say something, but I felt firm hands snake around my waist and I was turned around and maneuvered to the table. I then looked into the hazel eyes of Tyler. "Are you insane woman?!?" Tyler said. Alexis giggled and I said, "Nope. I don't think so,"
"Sum, you just came in contact with the newbie. I told you to stay away from him,"
"Well sorry Ty, I didn't mean t-."
"She didn't mean to run into him, lover boy." Alexis said cutting me off. My face erupted into flames, matching Tyler's rosy cheeks.
"Yeah Ty, I met Blake so what?"
"Erm..okay just don't get hurt okay?" He replied.
I don't know how I could get hurt..Blake seemed like a kind guy. I just came up with the best reply I could. "Yeah, sure. I'm just gonna get to class. Come on Alexis."
I blew Tyler a kiss and chuckled when his face became even redder than it was. Alexis and I walked into class quietly and sat down at our seats. Right when the bell was about to ring someone walked in and I just kept my head in my book, not even caring of who it was.
"Oh it's you again. Summer right?"
I snatched my head from my book, meeting the blue eyes of Blake. Wait, what? Where's the green? I could have sworn that he had green in his eyes. He had noticed the confused face I had put on and said, "My eyes change colors. Cool right?"
"Mhmm.." I mumbled and focused my attention on the board.

Summer walked into the empty house, running into her purple room and getting her homework out of her bag. I better start my homework before he gets home. She found a note taped inside her science textbook. It included a number and it read,
Here's my number just in case you need something, Blake.
I put the number in my phone, wondering why I felt weird that he gave me his number. My homework was finally almost done when I heard the door open, and I ran down the stairs to find a mad looking man walking in the house. Daniel Anderson took one look at his daughter and screamed, "What happened to your legs Summer?!!?" My gaze looked down at the shorts I was wearing that I had changed into before I started my homework. The bruises that were not iced were showing clearly, the black and blue dots all around my legs. "Um Dad, you did this to me. Remember?" I mumbled just loud enough so he could hear me.
"Liar, I did not do that to you. You do not lie to me Summer," He replied. The flashbacks of him hurting me flew through my mind, and my head became dizzy. "Yeah, you did." I muttered under my breath.
Then pain coursed through my cheek, multiple times and I just barely saw a glimpse of him slapping me multiple times. "I did not!!" He screamed. The pain was overwhelming, and tears brimmed in my eyes as he stormed to the door. I forced the tears down and heard him say, "I'm going out. Tell you mother that I won't be home for dinner."
"O-Okay Dad," I replied.
"Excuse me?" He said with a growl, opening the door. "I..I mean, yes sir." I stammered.
He stalked out the door, muttering to himself and my ears picked up the sound of, foolish girl and never should have been born. Then I ran to my room, sitting on the bed and letting the tears fall. After a few miserable hours, I had stopped crying and brought up the courage to call Tyler. The phone rang a few times, and then came a "Hey Sum," All I replied with was a small "Hey," I opened my mouth and said, "Ty can you ple-." I was cut off by Tyler's angry growl. "I'm coming." And he hung up.

After about 15 minutes, the door opened and in walked a furious looking Tyler. "What did he do to you Summer?" He said in a soft voice. He grabbed my face in his hands, looking into my green eyes. "He did it again Ty," I said. Tyler took one look at my face and walked up to me, grabbing my wrist and pulling me to the couch. I sat down while he inspected my face slowly. "I'm gonna murder him," Tyler said standing up. I pulled him down onto the couch, telling him to calm down. He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me close to him. I put my head in the crook of his neck, enjoying my best friend's warmth. We laid there for a while, and he broke the silence by saying, "Tell me where he went Summer."
"I don't know. He just walked out the door, telling me he won't be back for dinner. He has been gone a couple of hours." I replied.
Tyler stiffened. "A couple hours? Sum, you should have called me earlier," He said quietly.
"I didn't want you to see me when I was crying,"
"I don't care. Crying or not, you were hurt. Next time, call me straight away."
"I hope there isn't a next time," I muttered.
"There won't be. I'm not letting that happen. Where's your mom?"
I thought for a moment, wondering why she isn't home yet. "She's probably still at work. Why?"
"I need to talk to her," he replied.
Alexis walked in, holding up her spare key I had given her for emergencies. She had a smirk on her face and said, "Desperate times call for desperate measures. Tyler told me what happened. Oh, and I brought frozen peas and hot chocolate,"
"Gosh, I love you Alex," I said weakly. She threw the frozen peas at Tyler, taking one look at him and I together on the couch and chuckled. Tyler put the frozen peas up to my face, and I winced from the pain it brought. We talked about what happened while Alexis was making the drinks. She came up to the couch, handing me the chocolatey goodness. I gulped the hot drink down, feeling better. I snuggled into Tyler, taking the frozen peas out of his hand and throwing it on the table. My face was numb anyway. Alexis snuggled in beside me, and all three of us sat on the couch, with the sunset shining through the windows. We just laid there, enjoying each other's company.
