Their weapons collided with a clang. The people of the city watched in awe as they bounced off of eachother. The hero swung her sword and slammed it into his stomach, sending him flying across rooftops and into the side of the building. He coughed up some blood as people took pictures and raised his free hand in surrender. "You win, hero!" he smiled. Despite losing his words were proud, malicious almost. Said hero, Pheonix II, frowned with suspicion as she straightened her back and moves her dark brown hair out of her face. She held back a giggle.
"Ahem. 808, you are under arrest!" she yelled as she hopped from roof to roof until she was one apartment away from him. "Really!? For what?" he said in that sarcastic baby voice. Still immobilized, he blew some of his bright cyan hair out of his eye. "I- MURDER! You'll be sentenced to a life in prison," she tried her best to hold back a knowing smile. "Noooo.." he fake whined "whatever shall i do-" he launched himself off the wall he was stuck in, and yelled "Bye-bye chickpea!" as he fell into the streets. "NO!" she screamed as she looked over the edge to see a black car swerving through the crowd of people open its sunroof, catch 808, and drive away. Sword in hand, she jumped down and chased the car on foot.
She ran and ran until she was out of sight of the crowd. Slowed into a jog, then a walk, she went into a dark alleyway. She checked her surroundings then pulled out her phone from her back pocket and messaged Owen that she was out of sight. Almost instantly a black car pulled up on the side of the alley. The passenger door opened and a voice said, "Get in." She happily complied and not to her surprise 808 was sitting in the driver's seat.
"Hi Owen!" she smiled. Finally, she can spend time with her best friend. "Hey girl! You did great out there. " he said gleefully as he began to drive again. "Are you sure I didn't hurt you?" she asked worriedly, glancing at the blood on his lip and chin. He touched his lip and looked at the blood on his finger. " Oh this? Its fake, dont worry," he replied, wiping it off on his dark red turtleneck sweater he was wearing under his matte black blaiser. "Hey, why don't you take off your mask? You must be pretty uncomfortable wearing that all day," he laughed. "Why don't you show me your eye?" she teased as she took of her bright orange bird mask.
His hair was a bright cyan color, in a mullet type style but a small part of it was shaved on the right side. And on the left, his hair cover his eye. No one knew what it looked like. Not even her. "I can show you if you want me to," he said. "No. Absolutely not. No mortal could handle that information," she laughed. He quickly changed the subject. "Try out that present I gave you, Lycancith!" he said excitedly. He had the prettiest smile that she ever saw. Even though all his teeth were as sharp as her blade.
The gift was a necklace of gold and copper. At the end of it was a small piece of polished sodalite. "Oh yeah!" she remembered. She lifted the crystal piece carefully with her thumb and index finger and tapped the backside. Light blue hexagons began to cover her orange leotard, then dissapated into casual clothes. A light pink and white tyedye Coca-Cola hoodie, navy blue yoga pants and some white sneakers. "Woah!" she exclaimed, "This really works! You made this?" she asked. "Oh- uh yeah.." he blushed. He didn't know how to handle compliments. Most people were too afraid to talk to him let alone approach or even look at him. He liked it that way for the most part. 808 the feared serial killer and hacker. His body count is over 5000 and hes wanted all over the world, his name was everywhere! He wasn't lonely either. He had his sister and his employees (or minions as he likes to call them). And.. Lycancith.
"Are you sure I can keep this?" she asked as he activated his ring. "Yeah, I mean I made it for you," his clothes transformed aswell. Suddenly he was wearing a black sweater with a white collared shirt underneath, shades, a beanie, denim pants, and black sneakers. "Plus," he started, "Ferhendisle must be so senile by now he won't be able to tell you're even wearing that necklace," he rolled his eyes. "Hey! Don't talk about my dear husband like that!" she shot back sarcastically. For context, Ferhendisle was Lycancith's boss, CEO of Phoenix.Co and the man who stole her life away. At 14 he tricked her into signing a contract that practically said that she had to work for him and do what he said until she died. At 20 she made him the new hero, the second Pheonix of the city of Cusrol. And at 26 he forced her to marry him. Why? For clout. Physically and mentally she was in pain because of him but if she retaliated or disobeyed him there would be consequence. She hated him but there was nothing she could do.
"I swear one day I'll get you out of his greedy hands and make sure you're free and safe," Owen said, angry and determined. His grip on the steering wheel tightened as he thought about Ferhendisle and all the horrible things that he will do to him once he got the chance. He smiled thinking of the large man's face, the fear in his eyes, as he begged for his life. He'd be begging for death by the time 808 was done with him. Lycancith put a hand on his shoulder and gave him a soft smile, "You're breaking the steering wheel," she giggled. "Oh! My bad," he awkwardly laughed back. He decided to just focus on the road so they wouldn't crash.
"So, where are we going?" Lycancith asked. Owen pulled over and parked outside of a small café. "Here!"
