Fritz remembered this day well. Too well. March 24th, 2022. The day everything changed for everything and everyone. It started out normal, Seemingly just another God Awful day at Kenable high school. He walled into his Seventh, and final period of the day, plopping his bag down beside him and slumping into the hard plastic chair. He was exhausted.
Quiz, test, obnoxious online assignment, repeat. That was his entire, Agonizingly long day. He put his head down on the desk, slowly dozing off into a well deserved slumber. Just as his dream started to form, he was suddenly yanked by his collar, forcing his head back up. He looked around frantically, only to be met with stifled laughter. Someone sat down to his right. Fritz looked to see his Mahogany skinned aggressor. Well, more like jokester.
"Funny joke, Jacky. I could have choked and died since you pulled me up so hard, but whatever." Fritz rolled his eyes, resting his head in his palm
Jacky shrugged, grinning. "Well, I didn't, you're still in the mortal plane. Sooo I don't see what the issue is." He shrugged
Fritz opened his mouth to try and protest his logic, but was promptly cut up by the class starting bell.
The young woman who called herself their teacher opened the attendance tab on her laptop, and began to call out people's names.
"Jordan Acosta?"
"Present, Ma'am."
"Lisa Aunburg?" "Here!"
Fritz sighed, putting his head back down and waited for his name to be called.
"Jackson Dulic?"
Jacky confirmed he was present as he pulled out a notebook, full of drawings, flipping to a page with an unfinished sketch
Finally, after what seemed like forever...
"Fritz Herelda?"
Fritz pulled his head up, muttering a drowsy here...
The teacher marked off the final name of attendance. "Alright. Let's go over our unit from yesterday."
After a final hour of the day, the dismissal bell rang, and Fritz Jumped out of his seat. Eager to leave. Jacky, who had just barely put his notebook back into his bookbag, looked up at an anxious Fritz, tapping his foot inpatient.
"Come on hurry uuuuuuup..." Fritz groaned. Jacky chuckled as he finally got his things together, and they left to their respective lockers.
Fritz met with Jacky at the entrance of the building, now sporting a dark red hoodie, which was littered with black highlights.
After saying a final goodbye, Jacky left to catch his bus, and Fritz started to walk home.
As he walked, thinking if nothing in particular, he noticed the block go dark. Strange.
He merely shrugged it off, assuming it was just a cloud blocking the sun.
That is, until his phone started to blow up with notifications.
