Can I Love Again? Chapter 1

After a long and stressful day of work I was finally walking home. I have been waiting to get home since the moment I had left my house in the morning. The reason was because it was my second year anniversary with my boyfriend! I had a huge plan with him for the night. I had been planning this special surprise a couple months back. I hurried home because I had to get there before my boyfriend got off work, so I had time to put everything together. I was only a couple streets down, when I suddenly got to the point where I could see my house. I was so surprised because I saw my boyfriends car in the driveway, so I thought "oh maybe hes already planned something or got home to we can celebrate together".

As soon as I got closer to my house, I saw my best friends (Kaylin) car parked outside my house. Earlier at work she had told me that it was also her second year anniversary with her boyfriend, which was weird because we've been best friends all our lives, and she has not presented her boyfriend to me. Not thinking anything about it since I trust both my boyfriend and my best friend, I decided to go through the back door so I could surprise him from behind if he was siting on the couch, or somewhere else in the house. When I walked in I saw a romantic dinner set up with rose petals all over the table and floor. But I was concerned because the plates had been ate out of and the champagne glasses had been drank out of, so that meant he was not alone...

"Austin, I'm home...", I said walking up the stairs. Austin wasn't downstairs so I figured he was in our room or taking a shower. When I got up the stairs I heard two people talking, it kinda sounded like Kaylin and Austin. I figured they were talking about a surprise so I put my ear up to the door...I froze...what I heard filled my whole body with emptiness..."Oh Austin...how did we end up like this, I love you but I also don't wanna hurt my best friend she means everything to me."..."Love, she'll never find out if we don't say anything about it...put some clothes on I think shes almost here cause she texted me earlier saying she was on her way home"..

I didn't know what else to do but just to stand there...That was my best friend and my boyfriend. I didn't notice someone was walking to the door until I heard a gasp. It was Kaylin. Standing there in front of me, the person who I thought was my best friend. I look over and there he is...smiling at me..That's when I knew this was all a joke to him, he planed it from the start. I ran out the door crying, Kaylin chasing after me trying to stop me so she can tell me what happened. I didn't really wanna hear it right now. All I really know is that emptiness has filled my entire body from the bottom to top, heart shattered into pieces, crying my eyes out because of how hurt I was, how betrayed I was.

It was dark...cold. I didn't have a jacket on to keep me warm. I looked for a nearby store that could possibly be open this late. I checked my phone, "Shit, it died." I went to a 24 hour store so I can find a phone charger, a jacket, and a place to get some sleep. I went into the store and I was surprised with who I found there. I tried not to make eye contact cause I wasn't in the mood to mess with Lucas (my worst enemy).

It didn't really help at all cause as soon as I sat down, he came up to me. Me knowing he has nothing good to say something to me...surprisingly he didn't say anything like that. Instead he said "Hey are you okay, I notice that you were not your usual self". I know you'll never come into a store like this with, considering how rich you are. As much as I hated him, and I wanted to talk to someone about it. ..I didn't reply to him, my mouth wouldn't let me.

I looked up to him walking away, I was relived. I didn't have to be bother or talk to anyone. "I should really apologize tomorrow, that was kinda rude of me, since he was only trying to be nice to me for the first time.", I thought to myself. I was slightly confused about it cause I had no idea on why I would do that, like I never apologized to him and never even though of apologizing to him ever in my lifetime. "I have to keep going, and can't let anyone else into my life...not after what just happened". I keep telling myself that I'm going to be okay and that if I don't let anyone else in I wont get hurt as bad.

Its been a few months before I went back to school. I didn't want to be bothered any at all, I didn't want to face....him. I knew if I went back to school Kaylin would try talking to me about it, but I know I have to go to school so I can get a job and be better with my life. Few days has past and I finally stepped into my school. All eyes are on me I know that for sure, only cause I haven't been here for awhile. I could hear talking in the distance, it sounded like Austin and Kaylin...They were laughing at me. Lucas was standing there, I don't know why but he looked like me when I found out my ex boyfriend cheated on me with my best friend.

A tear fell down his face, watching his eyes grow red. I ran after him, he tried punching me. I wouldn't let him. "Lucas, why are you crying?!", I asked him with a worried tone..."Nothing, I just got something in my eye", he complained to me. I knew he was lying and I didn't want to bother him cause I knew he was upset. I told myself "I'll just ask him later when he isn't upset"..."I also hope I don't run into Austin and Kaylin while I'm at it."

After its been about a few classes I went to look for him. I'm kinda surprised I haven't seen that much today! Usually he'd make his way to find me just to talk smack. I'm also glad I didn't see Kaylin or- never mind there they are. Standing there in  love with each other. I looked over and there was Lucas looking at them, I still don't understand...when he looks at them I can see the look on his eyes like hes been hurt, emptiness has filled him like me. "I'll ask him about it tomorrow. I don't think I'll get anything out of him today with how its looking.  

"Welp...that plan didn't really work how how I planed." I said disappointed. I asked him about it and still got nothing out of him, just the same answer as last time, "I just had something in my eye".  I mean I get that he doesn't want to tell cause we hate each other and stuff. I just feel bad that's all, I've never seen him like this at all. 

I finally had the courage to go up to Kaylin and ask about him. The only reason why I even went up to her in the first place is because whenever Lucas looks at them with those red puffy eyes, I feel like it has to do something with Kaylin and Austin. Its only when he looks at them, that's when he starts to tear up and his eyes grow red again. I had to wait till lunch cause we have no classes together, and we have the same lunch...after a few hours has past its finally lunch time.  I could see her...with him. Laughing together like how we were. It was at our old table where we used to sit together, oh how the memories have spilled in. I finally go to the table, Kaylin and Austin and the rest of their friends went quite and just stared at me. I grab Kaylins hand and took her to the girls bathroom. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!",  she yells at me trying to let go of my grip. "I..just need to ask you a simple question". I asked her... "Do you know whats wrong with Lucas, and why hes crying every time he looks at you and Austin?" I do actually...she starts laughing...

"Actually...while we were friends, I went behind your back and dated him. I guess he really caught feelings for me since hes this hurt about me cheating on him", she said. "You know, we both said we would date each other just to date you and look now, it seems like it really worked".."I'm going now, back to Austin, and don't you dare talk to me ever again."

"W-what".......
