The run

My bones ached as I ran. I held my hands behind me as I pushed strong gusts of wind out of them, Cars screeched to a halt as I ran across the street.

A tall building blocked my path. I looked up and jumped. Flames blew out of my palms sending me higher and higher. Finally, I planted my feet on the roof as I sighed, and turned around to see a group of policemen staring at me. I couldn't go back. I wouldn't go back.

I jumped from one roof to another my eyes looking for a new home. My ponytail tickling my neck, I quickly jumped onto the edge of a building and looked around. There was no police cars in sight. I took a quick sigh of relief and leapt off the edge. I surrounded my feet with a ring of air to ease the fall and lowered my self too the ground. I would never let them catch me.

You see, I'm not an ordinary person. I have powers, I can control all the elements. And that's how I killed my parents. I had no family or home I could go to. Neither parents had siblings and my grandparents were dead. I was either going to jail or the streets. I chose the streets. No one liked me, the public judged me so I went to a shelter but they all thought I was weird.

So I left.

I have been planning on doing so for a while since the shelter has been getting packed. As I walked along the street I collapsed to the ground. My legs were weak and I was starving, I had no energy left. But, I dragged my self to an alley way. This would be my new home until I had more energy. My eyes began to flutter close until I heard a voice.
