Author's POV
It has been a normal work day
for 22 year old Ni-Ki.
Working for the past 7 hours,
standing behind the counter
for most of the day.
Ni-Ki had been softly bopping
his head to the music playing
on the speakers for the past hour.
Though, all he could hear
was the torrential rain outside.
The weather today was a bit gloomy,
and to top it all off,
only Ni-Ki and one other employee
were still working there.
Most employees have left for the day
since it is almost 8 pm.
"Ni-Ki! Do you know where
the boxes of dog food are?"
Ni-Ki's co-worker shouted from
the storage room, behind the
cash register.
Ni-Ki made his way to the storage room.
"Why do you need dog food?"
Ni-Ki questioned.
"The shelves are empty,"
his coworker said.
"It's 8 pm Sunghoon! I don't
think people would come here now
just to get dog food."
The co-worker named
Sunghoon rolled his eyes.
"So? You don't know,
I may need it,"
Sunghoon mumbled.
"Why would you need it?
It's not like you have a dog!"
Sunghoon stood up right after
Ni-Ki spoke.
"What do mean? I have a dog!
Her name's Gaeul! Do you not
listen to my conversations with you?"
"What?! You do?!"
Ni-Ki was extremely shocked at
figuring out this new information.
Sunghoon nodded his head,
repeatedly.
Ni-Ki then pursed his lips,
feeling sort of embarrassed.
"Sorry, I didn't know. But I don't
remember y—"
A loud ding came from the
front door.
The door makes a little dinging sound
whenever someone walks in.
Which means a customer is here.
Sunghoon directed Ni-Ki out to
storage room, swinging his arms
all over the place.
"Ok! Ok!"
Ni-Ki walked out the room
and stood behind the counter.
He saw a male wearing all black
in one of the aisles of the
convenience store.
The man looked really soaked,
they obviously didn't have an umbrella.
He also seemed quite stressed.
He wasn't pacing back and forth,
but he tried to stay out of the
windows view.
Mainly hiding behind shelves.
The man didn't seem familiar to
Ni-Ki either.
Ni-Ki's been working there for over
a year now, and he knows most
people living in the area.
But this unknown man also
doesn't look from around here.
Ni-Ki watched this unknown person
hide behind the shelves, in amusement.
"Excuse me? Sir?"
Ni-Ki kindly asked.
The man looked at Ni-Ki before standing
up properly.
Ni-Ki saw a glimpse of his eyes,
and he seemed quite young as well.
"Uhh...sorry,"
The man mumbled.
"Do you need any help?"
The guy just shook his head.
Ni-Ki nodded before looking away.
The man then grabbed a packet of
gum from a shelf and placed it
on the counter.
Ni-Ki did feel like it was a bit weird
but didn't really focus on it.
"That's all?"
Ni-Ki questioned.
"That's all, thank you."
"Ok. That'll be $1.50 please."
The man brought out his wallet and
handed Ni-Ki the money.
"Thank you."
Ni-Ki then took the money and placed
it in the cash register.
