It was peaceful in the little cottage Jezibella and Delos lived in. They had five acres of land that had a beautiful clearing in a portion of the forest up the mountain, trees surrounding most of their property. They had a beautiful white German Sheppard named Lilly, so they enjoyed having a large yard so she can run around and play in. Life was peaceful and the two were happily in love. However, the cottage was built and they moved in together, Jezibella slowly became concerned and even a bit suspicious of her boyfriend. Delos would often runoff in the nights and when he would come home, he would never look the way he left. Sometimes his clothes would be ripped or he would be shirtless. Sometimes he would go home with injuries. And sometimes, he wouldn't even get back home until sometime the next day. Worried about what could be going on, she often asked him about his whereabouts and would show her concern for him. But he would always brush it off and never really gave a direct answer. She didn't know what to think, but she would always feel relieved whenever he would return home. As time passed, her suspicions started to grow. She wondered if he were going to the bar and getting drunk. And she was terrified of the thought that maybe he were cheating on her. But she wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. She knew she couldn't ask Delos about it, since she knew he wouldn't give her a proper answer. So she decided to try talking to the one person she knew she could count on, her best friend Grace.

As Delos left for work one day, Jezibella decided now was the best time to try to ask. She sat at the dining room table, her cup of hot honey tea sitting in between her delicate hands, as she goes over all the thoughts in her head, trying to sort them out. However, she becomes emotional and knew she needed answers. She gets up and walks over to the phone, picking it up and punching in Grace's number. She was wondering if she were doing the right thing, asking her friend for advice. The phone started ringing and someone on the other line answered. "Hello?" Jezibella noticed that it was not Grace's voice. "Yes, this is Jezibella. Is Grace home?" The other person answered, "Yes, she is here. Wait just a moment and she will be right down." A few minutes later, Grace's voice comes through the phone. "Hello? Jez?" Jezibella was silent for a short moment, not knowing exactly what to say. "Hey, Grace. Uh, listen. I need to talk to you, get a second opinion..." Jezibella's voice fades off and Grace could hear the slight tremble in her friend's voice. "Jez, what's wrong? Did something happen? Are you okay?" Jezibella felt tears begin to swell in her eyes. She felt horrible for now for questioning her love, and for bringing her friend into it. "Grace, I have a bad feeling. At least once a week, Delos goes out at night and he doesn't come home until late." She didn't want to accuse him of anything, but she figured Grace would be able to help her sort out her thoughts. Grace listens and then lets out a soft sigh. "Okay, calm down Jez. Listen to me, Delos loves you. He really does. But to be honest, we have been keeping something from you. Listen, I don't know how to tell you this, but-" Jezibella quickly cut her off, her emotions flooding and taking over her. "Is he cheating on me with you?!" She yelled and couldn't help but start crying a bit harder now. "Jez! How could you even think that?! I am your best friend. Come on, you know me better than anyone else. I don't even like Delos on be best of days. I can barely stand the guy. I only tolerate him because of you and because I know how good he is to you. But we aren't like you Jez. We aren't... well, normal." Jez grew quiet as she listens to her friend and she pulls her lower lip between her teeth, biting it softly. "What are you talking about? What do you mean by not normal?" Grace lets out another sigh. "I can't tell you. If you want to know the truth, then you'll have to figure it out on your own." Jezibella became even more confused than before. "But how can I do that? Why can't you just tell me what's going on Grace?" There was a short period of silence as Grace was quiet before she finally spoke up. "Follow him. The next time he goes out, I need you to follow him But make sure to be careful. Don't let him see you. Stick to the shadows and keep your distance, but stay close enough that you don't get lost. Once you see where he keeps running off to, you'll understand everything." Jezibella takes a breath of protest. "But Grace-" Grace cuts her off. "Please just trust me on this." Jezibella was silent again as she ponders it for a moment. She then lets out a sigh of defeat. "Okay. I understand what I have to do. But what if-" A loud sound startled Jezibella and stopped her in the middle of her sentence. The sound came from Grace's end of the line. "Grace, what was that?" "Nothing. Jez, I have to go now. Little brother dropped the flower pot and it shattered. There's nothing to worry about. Just remember what I told you. And make sure to call me once you get back home." Jezibella was confused and didn't quite understand what her friend was talking about. "Alright Grace, I promise. Don't hurt yourself picking up the glass. Bye, Grace." "Goodbye, Jez." Jezibella then hung up the phone. Grace's instructions were clear. But how it was going to explain everything, was not.
