"I wanted to stay there with you," Xingqiu whispered. As he walked away, turning back to look at his pale blue haired friend sitting on the sole bench. Chongyun had so much freedom, and Xingqiu was jealous. For many reasons.

Firstly, he lived alone. Without anyone to bother him and dictate his life. He wasn't forced to study and was allowed to participate in activities he liked. Secondly, he didn't have all the responsibilities of a student council president. And lastly, he was handsome. Every second day or so he received a letter in his locker. Xingqiu couldn't help but just be jealous of all of him.

Reaching his house, he looked up. He was definitely not climbing up the tree to get to his room. He contemplated his two options; climbing up anyways, and most likely getting hurt in the process, or going through the front door risking a scolding. The former option was probably also going to get him a scolding from Chongyun and the council. Deciding that one person was better than a group of people, he lifted the rug, taking the spare key and unlocked the door as stealthily as he could. Obviously, he wasn't as talented at infiltrating as he thought as when he opened the door, the frowning face of his father was revealed.

"Well?" he questioned. As the head of the Feiyun commerce guild, Xingqiu's father's aura was definitely intimidating. However, Xingqiu felt that this was less intense than usual, when he was actually mad. This was what Xingqiu was really worried about. What was he planning?

Seeing as his son didn't answer, Xingqiu's father's lips curved upwards, before he said, "Son, do you have a girlfriend?"

This. This was what he was dreading. Xingqiu vigorously shook his head.

"You don't have to lie to me,"

No, because his father wouldn't understand. And would never be able to understand. Xingqiu was gay. Ah yes, another thing Xingqiu was jealous of was the fact that Chongyun could be openly pansexual. He sighed; this was the third time this month that his father asked him about his non-existent girlfriend. Xingqiu excused himself, deciding that he should get some rest, for tomorrow, he had work, yet again.

...

Xingqiu dragged his feet along the footpath, as he entered the school. He was lugging two bags on his back, and he had fallen asleep even later than midnight. He felt a sense of deja vu, however something, no, someone was missing. Chongyun. Xingqiu looked around for his friend, before realising he might have been sick. He took the same path up to the council room, unlocking the door with the absence of his friend. He sat down, at the seat next to the window and gazed down at the pool, to see the very person he was looking for. His eyes were glued to the consistent splashes of water because it was mesmerizing. That was a lie on Xingqiu's part; he was only looking at Chongyun's bare chest as he was on his 7th lap of backstroke.

As Chongyun finished his last lap, he looked up, searching for his water bottle before realising that Xingqiu wasn't there. He lifted himself from the pool and walked to his bag, taking out his bottle and towel. Chongyun felt incomplete but he knew that Xingqiu prioritised his studies. It was always about his father and the council. Why did he never ask to do more things with him?

'Hi," Xingqiu's voice was heard from the corner.

"Hi, Xingqi-" Bennet called out as he ran next to the pool. He slipped, falling into the pool, for the 3rd time that week. "What's up?" he continued, as Razor helped him outta the water.

"Nothing much, just wanted to say hi," Xingqiu politely smiled as he walked towards Chongyun.

"Well, we are going to change now, Chongyun do hurry," Gorou said before dragging the other two boys out.

"Hey, are you alright?" Xingqiu asked. He had always known when Chongyun was upset, especially when he avoided physical contact with him. The other boy just nodded, however that wasn't sufficient for Xingqiu. His heart panged, like it always did when Chongyun was ignoring him. He smiled, ignoring the pain, waving his hand in front of Chongyun's face.

However, Chongyun didn't say anything, picking up his bags. Xingqiu stopped waving and placed his hand on Chongyun's shoulder.

"Don't touch me!" Chongyun snapped. He watched as his best friend flinched and lost the smile on his face.

"Ok," Xingqiu whispered before turning around. He walked away, looking at Chongyun with the same smile he had practiced over his life. His service smile. However, not even a mere five steps away, tears started to roll down his face.

Chongyun sighed. He hadn't meant to yell. At least Xingqiu was alrigh-.

Sniff.

He turned to see Xingqiu wiping his face with his sleeve.

"Xingqiu?" Chongyun saw his friend's tear streaked face as he started to sprint. He knew he had fucked up. Running through the school in his swimmers wasn't the idea. Sighing, Chongyun decided to go after him later.
