"Then I thought, who gives a damn if all the jobs are gone?

I'm gonna be a pirate on the river Saskatchewan!

And it's a heave-ho, hi-ho, comin' down the plains

Stealin' wheat and barley and all the other grains

It's a ho-hey, hi-hey farmers bar yer doors

When ya see the Jolly Roger on Regina's mighty shores."

She had always loved pirate stories so why not become one herself? So, she left her family, stole a boat and sailed the nearest river. She stole everything she needed to survive, not much more. Except for when people were rude. They lost something extra.

"Well, you'd think the local farmers would know that I'm at large

But just the other day I found an unprotected barge

I snuck up right behind them and they were none the wiser,

I rammed their ship and sank it and I stole their fertilizer!"

Funnily enough that part of the song was completely true. The only thing that they left out was that the farmers were cruel and corrupt hoarding all their money and food, absolutely refusing to help anyone in need. So, she took it into her own hands. Though truth be told she wanted more to make life harder for them then she actually wanted or needed their belongings.

They didn't know what had hit them when a twelve-year-old jumped onto their ship. She got a pretty penny for that fertilizer as well. And their faces when they lost their ship and main income was priceless. A complete victory.

"A bridge outside of Moose Jaw spans a mighty river

Farmers cross in so much fear their stomachs are aquiver

Cause they know that Captain Jack is hidin' in the bay

I'll jump the bridge and knock them cold and sail off with their hay!"

She met Jack very early on in life. She was twelve and he fourteen. He had run away from home, mostly his father, so he could be a captain but Y/n can be very convincing so they agreed to both be one as they were just children. jack blocking the river and her jumping down to rob them was one of their most used strategies. For a long while it was just the two of them on a small boat. Over time some other poor bums joined them but not many wanted to sail under the control of two kids.

" And it's a heave-ho, hi-ho, comin' down the plains

Stealin' wheat and barley and all the other grains

It's a ho-hey, hi-hey farmers bar yer doors

When ya see the Jolly Roger on Regina's mighty shores

Well, Mountie Bob he chased me, he was always at my throat

He followed on the shoreline cause he didn't own a boat

But cutbacks were a'coming and the Mountie lost his job

So now he's sailing with us, and we call him Salty Bob"

Oh Bob. One of her and Jacks dearest and earliest friends. Oh, how he had HATED them! Until he lost his job of course. Then he had no other choice but to join them. He did warm up to her a little though. Eventually.

"A swingin' sword, a skull and bones and pleasant company

I never pay my income tax and screw the GST (Screw it!)

Sailin' down to Saskatoon, the terror of the seas

If you wanna reach the co-op, boy, you gotta get by me!

'Cause it's a heave-ho, hi-ho, comin' down the plains

Stealin' wheat and barley and all the other grains

It's a ho-hey, hi-hey farmers bar yer doors

When ya see the Jolly Roger on Regina's mighty shores"

That part was quite self-explanatory. She learned how to us a sword and gun with the help of salty Bob and made her first real pirate flag. Drew it herself. It was absolutely unsightly and utterly ugly.

"Well, pirate life's appealing but you just don't find it here

I hear in North Alberta there's a band of buccaneers

They roam the Athabaska from Smith to Fort McKay

And you're gonna lose your Stetson if you have to pass their way!

Well, winter is a'comin' and a chill is in the breeze

My Pirate days are over once the river starts to freeze

I'll be back in springtime but now I have to go

I hear there's lots of plunderin' down in New Mexico!"

And travel to Mexico they did. Salty Bob stayed behind Jack and y/n went alone. They had each others backs through thick and thin. Together they stole their very firs real sailing ship to go to sea with. Learning together and finding their first treasure when they were only teenagers. The first years of their piracy at sea they didnt yet rob trading ships, instead they were only seeking treasure. The first time they actually stole and attack a trading ship was after they had been branded. They had planned it long as it was a revenge ploy against Beckett as they knew it was his own ship, sadly he wasnt on it himself.

"'Cause it's a heave-ho, hi-ho, comin' down the plains

Stealin' wheat and barley and all the other grains

It's a ho-hey, hi-hey farmers bar yer doors

When ya see the Jolly Roger on Regina's mighty shores

It's a heave-ho, hi-ho, comin' down the plains

Stealin' wheat and barley and all the other grains

It's a ho-hey, hi-hey farmers bar yer doors

When ya see the Jolly Roger on Regina's mighty shores

When ya see the Jolly Roger on Regina's mighty shores"

She finished her song and was slightly out of breath, her chest was heaving. Proudly she bowed down. Legolas smiled.

"Stealing wheat and Barley, you have learned a lot since then it seems."

"Yeah, that's a little how growing up works."
