I arrived home to our beautiful countryside house in Sussex, England. I could see Andrew was already home and so was little Edith. It was only 2:30 so we had a while before we had to pick the boys up for school meaning I could have a chat with Andrew about adoption and specifically y/n. As I parked my Range Rover on the drive, I began feeling nervous about this conversation. What if he doesn't want to adopt? What if I ruin everything by bringing it up? How could I live with myself not helping y/n? I got out of the car carrying my bags and approached the front door, placing my keys into the lock turning it, opening the door.

Edith: "Mummy! Your back. I miss you."

Cate: "Hey little monkey I missed you." I picked her up carrying her on my hip as she talked about her day.

Cate: "Hey sweetie where's daddy?"

Edith: "He's in the living room watching SpongeBob with me because he's silly."

Cate: "Come on then let's go see him." With that she got down from my hip and ran through to the living room.

Edith: "Daddy, daddy! Mommies home!"

Andrew: "Yes I see sweetheart! Hello, darling. How was the school?"

Cate: "Well actually it was amazing. I met some really kind children today but one in particular stuck out to me, almost like a sign."

Andrew: "What do you mean, a sign?"

Cate: "Edith baby. Why don't you put on your earphones and watch some tiktok whilst mummy and daddy talk?"

Edith: "Ooo secret conversation...that's okie I'll watch tiktok hehe." With that Edith put on her pink headphones.

Andrew: "So what do you need to talk about, it seems important."

Cate: "Well you know how we have been talking about adopting again. I met this really gentle, quiet girl today called y/n. She was the school's representative for her class and she helped during my lesson. After the lesson she had a panic attack and I wasn't sure what caused it but when I spoke to her teacher after the lesson, she explained y/n has had a pretty rough life in and out of the system. It just made it clear to me that I want to adopt again."

Andrew: "I'm so glad we could talk about this dear, I wanted to adopt again too but I wasn't sure how strongly you felt about it so I didn't say anything. Y/n sounds like a really lovely girl so maybe we should speak to the kids when we pick them up and see how they feel. If there all on board with the idea we should speak to where she lives and have a visit with her to see how she feels. If she wants us to adopt her and all the paperwork is fine than we should adopt her and hopefully give her a new start in life."

Cate: "Yes let's speak to the kids tonight. I'm sure they will be fine with it and you will all love her as much as I do."

Andrew: "Come on then let's take my car and go pick up the kids. Why don't we go straight out for dinner – even if it's a McDonalds we know they love that."

Edith: "MCDONALDS?! YES PWEAZ!"

Cate: "Okay looks like were going to McDonalds then – we can't say no to out little monkey can we."

Andrew: "Of course not. She's too cute. Come on then Edith get your shoes and coat on and let's go pick up the boys."

Edith skipped to the kitchen and put on her coat struggling to get her arms through the sleeves. She sat on the floor in a flustered mess with her blonde locks across her face. She had a cute little pout on her face as she began concentrating trying to tie her shoes.
