Arrow On The Doorpost

Shaylee's POV

I painted a target on one of the blank canvases I found in King County and I've been shooting arrows at it with the help of Daryl and it turns out I'm actually really good with a bow and arrow

Andrea set up a meeting between my dad and The Governor, so Hershel, Daryl, and my dad went to  meet with him while the rest of us continue with fortifications in case the meeting goes bad and we all know how much of a worrywart I am so, of course, I've been pacing since they left

"Shay." Carol says causing me to stop pacing and look over at her all while everyone is loading guns and sorting ammo and such

"What?" I ask softly as she stares at me sympathetically

"They're gonna be fine." She says as she flashes me a reassuring smile

"She's right." Glenn says before he pecks the top of my head as he walks past me

"Carl, come here." Glenn says before Carl walks over to him

"You stash these at the loading dock. Alright?" Glenn says as he hands Carl two boxes of ammo and Carl nods his head in response

"Beth, put more up on the catwalk. If anyone gets pinned down, we need to make sure they have plenty of ammo. I'll go work on the cage outside." Glenn says as he grabs the blowtorch and gloves

"What we should be doing is loading some of this firepower in a truck and paying a visit to the Governor. We know where he is right now." Merle says

"Are you suggesting that we just go in and kill him?" Glenn asks

"Yeah, I am." Merle says

"Well, it's a good thing you don't get a vote because that's a stupid idea." I say as I cross my arms over my chest

"Besides, we told my dad and Daryl that we'd stay put." I add

"I've changed my mind, baby." Merle replies with a wink as he calls me 'Baby' causing me to gag

"Bein' on the sideline with my brother out there ain't sitting right with me." He adds

"The three of them are right in the middle of it. No idea we're comin'. They could get taken hostage or killed. A thousand things could go wrong." Glenn says

"And they will." Merle says

"Our dad can take care of himself." Carl says in a defensive tone

"Sorry, son, but your dad's head could be on a pike real soon." Merle says causing Carl to walk out of the prison without another word

"Don't say that to him." I say as my anger builds inside of me

"It's not the right move. Not now. Can't take the risk of putting them in the crossfire. That's my decision. It's final." Glenn says

I walk into the common area and I see Merle bagging up some of the guns before Glenn walks into the room

"Hey, you're not going." Glenn says as he closes the gate behind him

"I don't need permission." Merle says

"I can't let you." Glenn says

"You can't stop me." Merle says

"If you're gonna live here with us, it's gonna be on our terms." Maggie says as Michonne walks into the common area but Merle ignores her and heads for the exit

"If Michonne can do it, why can't you?" I ask

"Cause it's my brother out there, that's why. What's the matter with y'all?" He asks before walking up the steps coming face to face with Glenn

"I'm not gonna let you put them in danger." Glenn says

"Nut up already, boy. This guy cops a feel of your woman and you pussy out like this? Get outta my way." Merle says

"No." Glenn says

"Get out of my way!" Merle yells as he punches Glenn in the stomach causing a fight between the two of them

They roll down the steps with Merle landing on top of Glenn before Merle tries to stab Glenn with his knife hand thingy causing me to leap onto his back

"Get off!" I yell as I hold him in a chokehold

"Get off!" I repeat as Michonne and Maggie grab Merle's knife-hand

"I know just where to press to kill you. So try me." I seethe in Merle's ear before a gunshot fills my ears

We all turn our attention to where the gunshot came from and we see Beth aiming a gun straight in the air

"Let me go! Let me go!" Merle says as Michonne, Maggie, and I hold onto him before we all release him and back away

We all rush out of the cellblock to greet my dad, Hershel, and Glenn

I quickly wrap my arms around my dad's torso and it doesn't take long for him to return the gesture

"Let's get inside." My dad says before we all follow him inside and into the cellblock where we all gather around as we await my dad to fill us in on his meeting with the Governor

"So, I met this Governor. Sat with him for quite a while." My dad says

"Just the two of ya?" Merle asks

"Yeah." My dad replies

"Should have gone when we had the chance, bro." Merle says to Glenn as I roll my eyes at him

"He wants the prison. He wants us gone. Dead. He wants us dead for what we did to Woodbury." My  dad says as Daryl throws his arm over my shoulder and pulls me into his side

"We're going to war." He adds before walking out of the cell block
