From Nerd to Bad Boy to Nerd Again

Chapter 1

As I leave my old driveway and slowly leave down the road, I sit and think about the new life that is now before me. New home, new faces, new kids... New school. I wonder what will happen at my new school. Kids have never liked me because I'm am indeed a nerd. And I'm proud to be one. But I just haven't met the right person nor people who feel the same.

A 15 hour drive later:

As we finally arrive at my new home, I can't help but notice how nice the neighborhood is. It's much more peaceful too. I see a small park nearby and smile shyly towards it. "Braylen." I look towards my mom who's smiling at me. Its always been the two of us. My dad left when my mom was pregnant with me but I don't care to much about him. I tell my mom she should start dating but she said she doesn't need any other man in her life except me.

I help her take all the stuff out of the moving truck and into the house. We were in the kitchen talking about the school I will be attending. "The school said you can start tomorrow." "I'll have a guide right?" "They said they will provide you with one." I shook my head and started up the steps.

I took a shower and washed my hair. I cleaned my glasses off and put them in the case on the dresser. I went ahead and picked out my clothes and turned on the television. The tv was going and I fell asleep.

The next morning:

I woke up to the sound of birds chirping and the smell of breakfast being made. I rolled out of bed and went to the bathroom. I did my face routine and then headed down the stairs. "Morning mom." I said kissing her cheek. "Morning." She said scrapping the eggs out of the pan. "What time does this place open?" I asked popped a piece of bacon in my mouth. "8:00." "Mom it's only 6:00." "I know baby. I just wanted to get a head start on the day." "Best mom ever."

A couple hours passed and I was ready to go. "Isaac! Take the Porsche to school." "No I'm taking the Honda Accord." "Fine." She kissed my cheek and I kissed hers. "Drive safely." "I will."

I arrive at school and see a lot of people heading towards the doors. I parked in the front and headed towards the office. When I walk in I see a girl talking to the ladies at the front. I entered through the door and they stopped to look at me. "Hello sweetie. How can we help you?" "I'm new here. I need my schedule." "Okay. What's the name?" "Isaac Carter." She types my name in and looks at the girl talking to the other office lady. "Michelle." She walks over and smiles at me. "This is your guide Michelle. Michelle this is Isaac." We shake hands and entered the crowded hallway. "Nerd alert. Nerd alert." A blonde haired girl makes her way towards us. "Morning Michelle. Who's the nerd?" "This normal person is the new student. Isaac."

Everyone then turned their attention to us. "I thought he was gonna be... Cute." "Get a grip Nicole. You will never find the guy of your dreams." Everyone then starts to ohh. I look around and see people looking at me. I looked down shyly. I feel someone take my wrist and pull me through the crowd. As we were passing through I hear everyone calling me a nerd. We finally reached the door and that's when I realized that their were tears in my eyes.

I feel someone wipe my tears and look up. "Please don't cry on your first day." Michelle said looking at me in my eyes. We continue to walk the halls until we get to first block. "Here's our first period." She says with a smile on her face. "You're in here too?" I asked feeling relived. "Yeah." We then walked in towards the teacher's desk.

"Good morning Dr. Holloway. This is Isaac Carter. He's new here." "Dr. Holloway. The best Dual Credit teacher there is." "In fact you're just in time for the project we started." Michelle said elbowing me. "Oh cool. What type?" "The development on different languages and their cultures."  "Oh cool."

I go through the day with Michelle by my side the whole day. As I was walking to my car I see Nicole come up to my window. I get in and roll down the window. "Hey nerd. Nice car." "Thanks." "So what's a nerd like you, driving a car like this? Isn't this car for bad boys?" She said giggling making me look down. She then walks away and goes to the student parking lot.

I arrive home and see my mom in the living room reading her favorite novel. She then looks up from her book smiling at me. "Hey sport. How was it." I didn't even hold back all the tears came flowing out. I told her everything and she smiled at the Michelle part. "That Michelle girl sounds like a good girl" she said smirking and doing a little dance. "Yeah she wiped my tears." Mom gasped at the sentence and looks at me with awe. "I think you'll be fine if you stick with her sport."

Three months later

"Ugh that loser has returned. And he's with Michelle again." "We need to bring out his inner bad boy. I know it's there." I see Nicole and her pets walk towards me. "Oh my gosh Isaac. I have heard rumors about you from Michelle all over the media." "Oh yeah? What'd they say?" "She said having nerds as friends is weird and that people like you are gross." "She also called your mom overweighed and she said she has a eating disorder." "Well she actually doesn't." "And the last thing she said might hurt your feelings." Nicole and her pets opened their social media pages and clicked Michelle's profile. Once it opened it said 'I wish I have never met Isaac Carter' I look over at her and she was talking to a lunch lady and she waved. I shook my head and left.

As I was on my way to my car Michelle comes after me. "Hey where're you going?" "Home!" I said in a mad tone. "Wait. Did I do something wrong?" She asked confused. "Ask your friends. They might know." And with that I drove off.
