"Sorry for stopping by so out of the blue." Midoriya told you.
You waved him off. "Not a problem at all. I'm happy to see you both."
Midoriya smiled again, another bow following. "Thank you, sensei. I really appreciate all the kindness you show not only me, but Eri-chan as well!"
You laughed gently. "You don't have to always act so formal and respectful to me, Midoriya. You can relax a little bit. I might be a teacher, but I'm here to help you and make you feel stable and comfortable with yourself and your situations more than anything else. So please, talk to me with ease. Talk to me like you."
Midoriya nodded. "I will. Thanks again for all you've done for me."
Midoriya had come to see you often since the start of the year. Recovery Girl had been the one to set up the meetings, seeing as while she could heal Midoriya's physical ailments... his mental health was better suited to you. Thus, every time the boy hurt himself, did something dangerous, or nearly got killed... he'd get sent straight to you by either Recovery Girl or Aizawa. Even All Might on the rare occasion. So, you and Midoriya were very well acquainted.
"Ah!" Eri's voice made both you and Midoriya turn to glance at her. "I found it!"
She pulled out a folder and looked hesitant to put it on your desk. You moved aside a few items on your desk and motioned for Eri to take a seat beside you. Midoriya moved a chair over and the little girl happily climbed up and opened her folder. Midoriya stood behind her and you next to her, both of you watching as she took out a white sheet of paper and placed it before you.
"Deku-kun and Lemillion-kun taught me!" She cried with joy.
On the paper, in childish scribbles were kanji. But not just any kanji. Kanji that could be read as Eri. It seemed the pair of boys had gone through the possible meanings of her name with her and had her practice writing it down herself. You could tell which ones were had been written by either Mirio or Midoriya from the more developed lines and the ones that were Eri from the ones that looked freshly learned.
"It's my name! In kanji!" She was practically unable to sit still from her excitement. "Deku-kun said that when I decide what kanji I want for my name, he'll teach me how to write it in katakana and hiragana afterward! I'm going to learn every way to write my name!!"
"What about with the Roman alphabet?" You asked her and saw as confusion washed over her features.
"What's the Roman alphabet?" She asked you.
"It's the alphabet and language system that a lot of Western countries use. We use it here when we use English or are teaching it. I'm sure you've seen it before on billboards or on manga, but never knew!" You explained to her and took out a pen. "Look. This is how you'd spell your name in what Japan calls Romanji, which is writing Japanese words in the Roman alphabet."
You started to print down the three letters that would be Eri's name in the Western system and she watched you in anticipation. It only took five seconds, but when you were done, you let her see your handiwork.
"You'd spell your name as 'E'-'R'-'I'." You told you, pointing to each letter as you spoke them. "It's pretty easy to write, huh? Only three letters of the twenty-six on the Roman alphabet!"
"I like the way this letter looks!" Eri told you as she touched the 'R'. "I like how it has a circle at the top and then has two legs!"
You nodded and passed over your pen. Eri started to try and copy the letters. As she did so, you turned to Midoriya, wanting to ask the green-haired teen a question that had come into your mind since the pair of them had walked in.
"I'm surprised to see you here." You told him. "Usually its Aizawa who stops by to say hello and let Eri see me. Or drops her off for music club."
Midoriya frowned slightly. "Aizawa-sensei looked to be a bit more stressed than usual today... so I offered to look after Eri while he took care of himself."
You blinked and looked up at Midoriya, your hues of (eye color) hitting the teen with genuine worry and concern. Midoriya's own emerald eyes looked back at you and he seemed to understand what you were asking of him from the passing moment of eye contact between the pair of you.
"I'm sure its nothing to worry about!" Midoriya tried to relieve any stress he might have just caused you. "H-He... was just a lot sleepier today than usual! We had to call Present Mic in to wake him up when homeroom ended because he was so exhausted that none of us could... or wanted to try."
"Was he like this all day?" You asked and Midoriya took a moment to think.
"Yeah..." He admitted. "During gym, he just told us to run laps until gym was over. Usually, he has some kind of surprise for us, since we're allowed to use our quirks during gym... but he fell asleep again and we all ran normal laps like the ones in middle school. That time... it was Midnight who came to fetch him and attempt to wake him up."
"He must be pushing himself again." You sighed and shook your head. "That man is just as bad as some of his own students..."
Midoriya chuckled wearingly. "I guess we've all picked it up from him?"
You chuckled lightly, seeing and sensing Midoriya's feelings of worry and anxiety over this entire conversation and how he himself had a habit of... causing worry and concern more than anyone else at UA. The mood in the air shifted to a calm and comfortable one thanks to your quirk.
Seeing as Midoriya wouldn't hover over and stress about what was just spoken and said now, it was time for you to dismiss him and Eri and go and check on the dark-haired teacher yourself. He had always gone out of his way to help you when you were not at your best... so now it was time for you to repay the favor. Even if it was as small as telling him to sleep, you wanted to do something to show him you cared and appreciated him.
"I'm going to go and find him. Check in on him." You told Midoriya and stood up. "Are you okay watching over Eri for a little while longer? I know Mirio usually comes to pick her up before dinner."
"Yeah not a problem at all (Last Name)-sensei!" Midoriya nodded to you and motioned for Eri to get ready to go. "Sorry if I worried you."
You shook your head. "Don't feel bad. Who is there to worry about the heroes who don't worry about themselves after all?"
Midoriya seemed to find comfort in your question. Eri waved goodbye to you, saying she'd practice and would show you how to write her name in all four ways the next she saw you. You saw them off and then quickly picked up your office. If you remembered correctly, Aizawa was one of the few members of staff who lived in the staff quarters on campus, so you should find him there.
With that idea in your head and a set of determined feet carrying you, you made your way towards where you hoped Aizawa would be. Rehearsing in your head what you'd say and all the ways you could help him. Now all that was left, was to actually find him and ask him how you could.
