CHAPTER FIFTEEN:
THEIR OWN STORY

SHE COULD FEEL ALL OF the stares as she walked with Hope down the halls of the school. Hope glanced towards Lilianna, and she could tell the girl was struggling with not only her hunger but with her nerves that only continued to grow the further down the halls that we got. Hope glanced around, immediately shooting glares to any of the students that she caught staring at Lilianna. She turned back towards the Stark girl before she held out her hand. Lilianna looked at her for a few moments before she grabbed Hope's hand and gave it a small squeeze in hopes of reassuring herself.

They went to the library first, and Hope watched the awe that fell on Lilianna's face as she looked at the hundreds of books that were there. She let go of Lilianna's hand, watching as the girl walked forwards, entering one of the aisle's and running her hands across the spines of the books. Her hand stopped upon seeing a book about vampires, and she couldn't help herself when she pulled it from the shelf.

She opened the book, allowing her eyes to scan over the words for a few moments before tucking the book under her arm and turning her head back towards Hope who had been patiently waiting for her. She gave her an apologetic smile before making her way back over to her and joining her side once more. As they made their way out of the library, Lilianna couldn't help but say, "This library is mind blowing. I might have to come back here after we finish the tour, see if there's anything in there that I haven't had the chance of reading."

"I'm sure you'll find something." Hope assured her with a smile before nodding her head, silently telling her to come on. Lilianna did so, grabbing Hope's hand again as they strolled down the halls once more. Hope showed her everything. From the bathrooms, to the gardens that decorated the outside of the school. And Lilianna couldn't help but admit that the school was absolutely beautiful, and the background of it was perfect for the creatures of the supernatural to take up as their safe place. And even though that hunter in her was still raging for the deaths of those poor innocent people, she couldn't help but swallow that feeling back and smile at the kids that played with one another.

"So, tell me, how did you find and gather all of these kids?" Lilianna questioned, using her free hand to brush a strand of hair from her face. "I mean, some of them are so incredibly young. Do their parents know? Are they hear because of that?" She couldn't help the curiosity that ran through her veins, it's something she'd always been cursed with even as a skilled and trained hunter. She watched as Hope shrugged.

"Everyone has their own story," Hope explained. "All of them are different, none of them the same, and yet some of them seem to contain the same aspects." Hope shook her head, a small frown gracing her lips. Lilianna couldn't help but want to know Hope's story. But she knew by the look on Hope's face that the girl's seemed to follow that of a tragedy, and Lilianna didn't want to place her nose where it didn't belong. She was like her father in that sense, the man never wanted to be somewhere he wasn't wanted unlike her mother who didn't care and demanded to know every little thing about someone's life.

"Can I ask you a question?" Hope hummed, grabbing Lilianna's attention once more. The brunette pursed her lips for a second before she nodded her head. "If it weren't for that birthmark, would you be a hunter? Would you. . . would you have still hunt us supernatural beings?" Her question was hesitant, almost as if she was scared that her words would make Lilianna blow up on her. Maybe it was because she was a new vampire and Hope didn't want her to get angry and rip her throat out, or maybe it was because Hope was just curious.

Lilianna's eyebrows cinched as she pondered the question for a few moments. It's something that she'd never thought of before, because her life had always been planned out for her. She wasn't allowed to think, eat, breathe anything else other than killing the beings that murdered her father. A story in which she had a gut feeling was exaggerated just to keep her motivated. To keep her wanting revenge for her father. She opened and closed her mouth for a few moments before she found herself frowning at the question.

"I never thought about that." Lilianna's voice was soft as she spoke, gaining the tribrid's full attention. "I'm used to my entire life being planned out right before me. I've never really had control over my own choices, because my mother was determined to keep me on the path of hunting and revenge. My, uh, my father was killed by the supernatural. Vampires, to be exact. The irony." She laughed, motioning to herself. "Ever since then my mother was hellbent on killing your kind. And she wanted my brother and I to do the same. So, if my mother was still my mother, then yes, I would still become a hunter. But if she wasn't, and I got the chance to know someone like you, I think I'd protect you instead."

Hope met Lilianna's eyes as she said this, and she felt her heart stutter in her chest at the Stark girl's words. Hope tried her best to hide the emotions that ran across her face. She knew what it was like to lose a parental. In fact, she had lost both of hers. "My mom and dad died. Trying to save me. My uncle too. But, I'm sure you know all about the death of the Mikaelson's. I know what it's like, to lose the one person in the world that you always looked up to, and always wanted near you to protect you."

"When I was sent by my mother to kill you, she said that our destinies were connected." She rolled her eyes at the words. "This is not what I thought she meant."

"Is that a good thing, or a bad thing?" Hope whispered.

Lilianna looked at her for a second before the smallest of smiles started to pull at the corners of her lips, grabbing's Hope's hand and giving it a small squeeze. "It's starting to become a good thing." And then she nodded. "A really good thing."
