Situation 84 Part 2

84:

I squeezed my eyes tightly together. I heard the blood pounding in my ears. I knew I should get up and see how bad the explosion was but something stopped me. I hugged my knees to my chest and focused on breathing.

I gave that up quickly when all I did was inhale dust and debris. Slowly I peeked around me through my lashes. Metal beams lay scattered around mixed with plaster from the walls. It looked like a demolition zone.

"84?" a quiet voice wavered through the air. Forgetting the pain in my head I whipped up and looked frantically for 27.

"where are you? Are you okay? Can you move?" hundreds of question formed in my mouth but I swallowed them quickly when I saw her. My heart stopped for a second and burned in pain.

The little girl I had always taken care of was under what used to be the ceiling above our heads. Her face was caked in dust and blood with long deep cuts that covered her arms, neck and face. I carefully stepped over to her. She shivered and sniffed her nose.

"oh my God. Don't move! I'll get you out okay?" I went to reach for her hand to comfort her but stopped short. Where her hand should have been was a bloody stump of blood bone and shreds of flesh. It looked like it had been totally destroyed and ripped apart. Bits of her own bone and other half of her arm lay on the metal pieces around us. It was worse then any explosions I'd been in and by far more then any horror movie I'd ever seen.

Even as well-trained I was in a case scenario as this, I still felt the bile in my throat buildup. Letting out a long kept in breath I worked to gently pry her out of the debris. I made certain to avoid her arm as much as possible.

As I worked 27 murmured random nonsense. I kept shooting her worried glances and wondering if she would make it. My head raced as I thought out a plan on what we had to do... Look for anymore survivors, find supplies and a new camp-

"will you? Please 84"

Her raspy voice brought me back to reality.

"what 28?" I asked gently, meeting her glazed over eyes.

" call me by my real name. You said I could. I just want to feel like a normal girl before I di-"

I cut her short sternly,"you are not going to say that. I refuse you to. We are getting out of here. Together. And alive."

She just gave me a sympathetic smile, like that was a lie I was avoiding. But her smile evaporated quickly into heart stopping cough.  Wventually the coughs subsides and i wiped the blood off the corner of her mouth.

" can't I just have a name. No matter what you say, I want to feel... Somewhat normal."

I took her one good hand and held it tightly, her eyes were unfocused and she was loosing so much blood.

"of course. Yes. What is it"

She smiled and looked far off.

" Rose, I've never seen a rose..." and she passed out.

72:

When I finally regained consciousness I immediately searched for the doctors.  I couldnt remember the last few minutes before I passed out but I had some serious matters to talk to those doctors about. I do remember what George had said previously to the explosion meant he had known about the bomb beforehand.

My thoughts went back to him right after he left the girl. What had he done in that room? It was in the general direction of the bomb. Could he have possibly set it off?
