Doomsday

As our house burns to the ground,
I watch our favourite places go up in flames.
The sky a colour it should not be.
I think of joining it in our silence.

You still smell like gasoline and
I try not think about what that means for
You, me, and the house.
The roof collapses completely inward and I realize we have nowhere to sleep.

In the face our finality, we say nothing.
You turn to walk one way and I turn to walk another.
Three blocks down and it sinks in: this is the end of us.

Doomsday

Author's Note

When I wrote this poem all I could see was the ending scene of the "Love The Way You Lie" music video, even though I haven't seen that music video in years.

This week's dedication, I must say, goes to valeb_kaw just because when I say they SPAMMED, I mean they SPAMMED. And I loved every second of it! Thank you for all your support I definitely saw my notifications running up and it made my day!
