Our Love

Chapter 4

Alicia was shaken awake as she tried to adjust her eyes to the darkness. A warm hand gripped hers, lifting her up.

"Alicia, it's me", Nikolas whispered.

"Are you crazy, what are you doing here?"

"I'm getting you out, we'll escape together. There's no stopping us", Nikolas said, pulling open the iron bars.

He led Alicia through a secret passageway, past sleeping guards until they got to the door that separated the mansion from the dungeon.

"What if we get caught? Your father would be furious", Alicia whispered.

Nikolas smiled, a sardonic smile. Alicia didn't know it yet but the young heir had a few tricks up his sleeves and he wouldn't hesitate to use it if the need arises.

"We won't get caught. Now, keep quiet while we focus on getting out", Nikolas said.

"Rude much", Alicia smiled.

They soon got to the last door that separated them from the outside world. This door proved to be the most difficult as it was operated through an alarm system. Opening the door would trigger the system, alerting everyone in the house.

"This is the last door and the greatest challenge", Nikolas said.

Alicia stared at the door, giving it a quizzical look. Her mind was working, thinking about a solution to their problem. Just then, she smiled as she moved closer to the door.

"The door system is operated by a set of wires correct?", Alicia said.

"Yes carà but a slight touch will trigger the alarm", Nikolas said.

"Leave it to me".

Alicia proceeded to work on the wires, taking it one after the other. Soon, she was done as the door opened with a quiet hiss.

Nikolas couldn't believe what he was seeing. Even the most skilled security man couldn't do what the young scientist just did. Nikolas couldn't help himself, he moved towards Alicia as he gave her a warm kiss.

The young scientist was startled at first but she soon adjusted, kissing Nikolas back with everything she had.

"Have I ever told you what a genius you are?", Nikolas beamed.

"Duhhh... I'm a scientist, it's my job", Alicia said.

They stepped out into the cool night air. Nikolas led her to a garage of cars. Soon, they drove off, putting the mansion behind them.

"Where are we going?", Alicia asked.

"My private place. My dear, this is the beginning of another adventure", Nikolas said.

Nikolas drove towards the city center as Alicia looked on in wonder at the beautiful city. She had never been to these parts of the city and was surprised that such beauty lay within the country.

"You've never been to these parts?", Nikolas asked.

"No, not really. I'm usually just cooped up in my lab during weekdays and on weekends, I'm always at home", Alicia said.

Nikolas smiled, taking Alicia's hands in his. He couldn't deny it any longer, he had feelings for the beautiful scientist. Ever since he met her, thoughts of her constantly filled his mind as he looked for ways to approach her on the subject.
