Kill the Uselessness

Ryuko: I see you're taking things easy and enjoying all the sights, Mako.

Mako: I'm so glad to see you Ryuko.

Ryuko: Glad to see you too Mako.

Senketsu: I feel many pieces of my body approaching us.

Ryuko: Wait then that means-

Tatsumi appears in front of her bike with the rest of Senketsu, beaten, bruised, and battered from all the fights he's been in.

Ryuko: Tatsumi!

Tatsumi: Hey Ryuko! How's it-

Ryuko gets off the bike with tears in her eyes and slaps the taste out of his mouth.

Ryuko: Dumbass! Why the hell would you just leave like that?! Do you have any idea how worried I was?! I thought you were gonna die! I actually thought you were gonna die trying to fight through literal armies at a time, so tell me Tatsumi, what the hell were you thinking?!

Tatsumi: Ow! That hurt like hell. When did you learn to slap like that?

Before Ryuko could slap him again for ignoring the question Mako speaks up.

Mako: She learned how to slap like that because she was fixated on her desire to find you and get Senketsu back together. I get that same way but with money, and Tatsumi gets it from his desire to get stronger.

Ryuko: *sighs* Just please Tatsumi, don't just go off on your own like that, I'm starting to connect the dots on what happened back at the empire, so I can kinda see where you're coming from, but please just think of the people you're leaving behind whenever you do stuff like that. If you were to die. I don't think I know what I'd do.

Tatsumi: I-I'm sorry Ryuko. It's just that I... I wanted to do something, anything to help out at least a little and I did something stupid again. I just felt useless after losing over and over again so I wanted to prove myself.

Ryuko slaps him again before clapping her hands around his face. Forcing him to look at her in her eyes.

Ryuko:  Again, with that! How many times are you gonna keep calling yourself that!

Tatsumi: Wha-

Ryuko: It's always oh I can't do anything right this, or I need to be useful that! How many times are you gonna be a badass and then turn around and pretend like it never happened?

Tatsumi: But I never win-

Ryuko: That's not the point! Tatsumi even when you lose, you always inspire me and Senketsu to get better too. You told me before to believe in you before, so now I'm here to tell you to believe in yourself now! To hell with what Satsuki or Nui have to say! I'm here to tell you that you have the strength you need to fight with me!

Tatsumi looked at Ryuko in astonishment. She believed in him. After all of this, she still had 100% faith in him. Tatsumi almost didn't believe it. He wouldn't have believed it if it weren't for the fire in her eyes when she said it. That fire in her eyes. It was oddly... enticing. He smiled his first genuine smile since he got here as his eyes started to regain their life. He knew for sure that even though he may be unlucky when it comes to traveling. When it comes to finding friends. He has the best luck in the world.
