Kill the usefulness

Start from the beginning

Ryuko: Thanks, Tatsumi.

They sit in the room with each other for a bit in silence.

Ryuko: You can leave now.

Tatsumi: I know, but I'm not going anywhere.

Ryuko: If this is about me putting on Senketsu then you can forget it.

Tatsumi: It's not about that at all. Remember when I said that you could talk to me about anything and at any time. Now seems like a pretty good time.

Ryuko: Tatsumi. You don't understand I-

Tatsumi: Try me.

Ryuko: I... *sigh* I just couldn't hold in my rage. I saw Nui and then I saw you get hurt again, and then I just... I just lost it. I wanted to kill Nui, it didn't matter to me what I destroyed in the way, whether that be Satsuki, the Elite Four, or even you and Mako. I'm dangerous to be around, a monster. If you knew what was good for you, you'd leave.

Tatsumi: I don't blame you not one bit, and I'm pretty sure Mako has already forgotten about the whole thing.

Ryuko: But I betrayed your trust! You went out of your way to help me with all of this, and I repay you by becoming a rampaging monster!

Tatsumi: I know, and I still don't blame you.

Ryuko: Why? I just can't understand why or how you can be so okay with me!

Tatsumi: After all this time you finally found out who killed your dad, and when you finally find her, she starts waving the murder weapon in your face and taunting you like it was all just a game to her. I would've lost it too. As a matter of fact, I did. I almost killed you as well, so you don't have to feel any sympathy towards me.

Ryuko: She started talking about your friends, of course, you'd lose it.

Tatsumi: Hey Ryuko, if you could use even the slightest bit of that sympathy and use it for yourself, that'd be pretty cool. We were both in the same situation and did the same thing. If you're gonna blame yourself and then  have those same feelings toward me.

Ryuko: I... I can't just do that, you...

Tatsumi cracks a smile when he sees how stumped Ryuko got.

Tatsumi: See, doesn't make to much sense now does it?

This gets Ryuko to smile a bit as well as she realized how illogical she was being.

Ryuko: Yeah, I guess you're right.

Tatsumi: And even if I were in full control, I wouldn't have been able to do a damn thing. Besides I was already taught to not allow stuff like that to even happen in the first place.  I can guarantee that he'd knock me upside my head for rushing in like that.

Ryuko: So what you're saying is that we're both screw-ups.

Tatsumi: I'm saying that you're human and not a damn robot. Can't expect perfection all the time.

Ryuko: Thanks Tatsumi, you have no idea how good it feels to hear that, but I still don't think I'm ready to put on Senketsu again.

Tatsumi: Then let's start small.

Ryuko: What do you mean?

Tatsumi: I mean training again. Just because you're sad doesn't mean you get to slack off, it might even help you start feeling better, usually helps me so it might help you.

Ryuko: I really doubt exercise is going to help out with my problem.

Tatsumi: Just give it a shot will ya'. It's gotta be better than sitting here brooding.
