Chapter 2

It had been a few months since we'd arrived at the owl house.

We'd learned a lot.

Eda was cursed, she was a witch criminal, she had a sister named Lilith, she was the most powerful witch on the Boiling Isles, and had a pet demon named King.

Eda had enrolled both of us at Hexside school of magic and demonics.

Luz had chosen to study a bit of each track.

I just chose one, beastkeeping.

Lilith had also tried and failed a couple of times to capture Eda and turn her in.

Today, me, Luz, her two friends, and a few other students got to go to the emperor's castle.

I was sitting next to Luz in the flying dragon boat thing.

The boat landed at the bridge to the castle.

"Now", said principal Bump.

"the Emperor's assistant will be your tour guide, please don't make me regret taking you here".

The bridge retracted, bringing us to the Castle's entrance.

Kikimora stepped forward.

"Emperor Belos welcomes you to his castle. We're honoured by visits from students. You'll soon be part of a coven. Some lucky few may even find their home here in the emperor's coven", she said.

Kikimora was leading us through the castle.

Me and Luz had to put our hoods up so that our ears weren't visible.

After a few minutes of the tour Lilith burst through the door.

She spat out feathers and made her staff disappear.

Luz and I hid behind a wall.

Lilith walked off, and so did the tour.

Me and Luz looked at each other and nodded.

We followed Lilith.

She went through a door.

Luz looked through the keyhole, suddenly gasping after a minute.

I covered her mouth and we ran to a window, she quickly explained what she'd seen in the room.

"So he's murdering palisman to get their magic? I always knew this Belos guy was bad news", I said.

Suddenly we noticed Luz's friends, Willow and Gus standing there.

They told us they'd help us get the healing hat for Eda.

We went back to the room full of relics and I grabbed the hat.

"Now we can cure Eda and get this hat back before anyone knows it's gone", I said.

"I will know", said a voice.

We walked back to the owl house without Eda.

She'd used up all her magic to rescue us and turned into the owl beast.

Because of Me and Luz she was gone, who knows what Belos was going to do to Eda? Hooty greeted us enthusiastically.

"Hi Hooty", Luz said.

Inside there was a huge cake on the coffee table.

Suddenly King burst out of it.

"The cake is meee", he said.

"Hey um, where's Eda?", he asked.

Me and Luz dropped to our knees, tears flowing from our eyes.

What was going to happen now?
