Gabe was having a very restless night. Tossing and turning. He looked over at the clock, it was 5am. What a great time to be awake. Gabe sighed in frustration and picked up his phone, texting the one person who he knew was gonna be awake
Alex
Quack man
Gabe: you up?
alex: yeah, what's up?
Gabe: cant sleep
Alex: neither can i
Gabe: do you wanna go out skating and do random shit
Alex: sure! meet outside your house in 5?
Gabe: see you in 5
Gabe got up, grabbing his skateboard. He walked outside his house, soon seeing a familiar beanie-headed man skating towards him
Alex: hey Gabe: helloo Alex: we could skate up to the gas station and then up to the beach Gabe: I'm down, let's do it
Gabe put down his skateboard, placing his foot onto it and pushing off with his other, getting sped. Alex did the same. They skated down the street, it was quiet. No sounds, just the sounds of the skateboard wheels rolling against the tar
The street gabe lived on wasn't fully occupied. Only four families plus himself lived there. It was a fairly new neighbourhood too. They talked and laughed the whole way towards the gas station
The enjoyed the presence of each other so much, that it had become a daily task to talk to each other at least once. If not, then it was going to be a bad day
It was about a 30 minute skate to the gas station. When they got inside, the owner looked at them and smiled. The two of them visited the gas station quite frequently
They got monsters, a packet of chips and gummy worms before alex paid at the check out. Gabe held his own monster and the packet of chips while Alex held his own monster and the gummy worms. They skated towards the beach and soon got there. They made their way towards a bench that overlooked the ocean
Gabe and Alex had met at the beach. It was till this day one of their most favourite places. To swim sure, but also because of how beautiful the beach was. How many memories the beach held
They both sat cross legged on the bench, opening up their monsters, taking a sip and then playing it between their legs. They opened up the chips and gummy worms, placing it in the small space between them
The two felt so comfortable around each other. So safe. Like nothing mattered. Like everything was gonna be ok. Like it was just them. Where no one could bother them. Where they could just spend their whole life smiling, laughing and talking
Gabe: you've been pretty in thought there alex, you alright? Alex: yeah no I'm good! Just looking at the ocean Gabe: hey, what's on your mind?
It was gabe.
Gabe was on his mind.
He couldn't tell him that though
Alex: just YouTube and stuff Gabe: everything alright? Did someone say something? Alex: no no! Everything is ok, just thinking of video ideas Gabe: for once stop thinking about YouTube and twitch idiot Alex: sorry, you're right. I'll stop Gabe: good
They continued talking and laughing. Alex looked up at the ocean and saw the sun peaking over the horizon
Alex: hey look, the suns rising Gabe: oh my god! It's so pretty Alex: it's beautiful
Gabe was too focused on the sun rising to notice Alex wasn't looking at the sun when he said that. Alex sighed and made up his mind to just go for it before he chickened out
Alex: gabe Gabe: hmm?
Gabe had a small smile on his face when he turned his head to face Alex
Alex: I need to get something off my chest Gabe: what is it? Alex: so, there's someone that I like Gabe: oh? Who is it Alex: I don't wanna say, but can I talk about them Gabe: ofcourse Alex: well they're really nice. They're so funny. Just talking to them makes my day so much better. They're very attractive Gabe: wow Alex, you've fallen deep Alex: I know I have, it's just.. Gabe: just what? Alex: I'm scared to confess because what if they don't like me back and then I might ruin our friendship Gabe: I mean Alex, you're a great guy and I'm certain they feel the same way about you. I say just go for it Alex: really? Gabe: I mean if they don't like you back then they have something wrong with them Alex: *chuckles* so I should just tell them I like them? Gabe: yeah
Alex nodded his head. His heart wanted to tell gabe. His head didn't. He shook his head
Alex: gabe Gabe: yes Alex: I like you
Gabe's heart flatlined. His mouth slightly parted as he tried to process what was just said to him
Gabe: are you serious? Alex: as I've ever been Gabe: I like you too Alex Alex: you do? Gabe: what about the person you like though? Alex: *sigh* youresuchafuckingidiot (you're such a fucking idiot) I was talking about you dumbass Gabe: ohhhhhhh! So, what now? Alex: I didn't think that far ahead, just needed to get it off my chest Gabe: I'm glad you did
The two shared a soft smile and Gabe scooted closer to alex, resting his head on Alex's shoulder. Alex tensed up but then wrapped his arm around Gabe's torso, bringing him closer
They sat in a comfortable silence, watching the sun as it slowly rose
Alex: we should head home Gabe: do you wanna stay over? Alex: sure!
The two grabbed their empty food packets and monster cans, threw them in the bin and then skated three way to Gabe's house. When they got inside, they headed up to Gabe's room
The two of them got under covers, too tired to say anything
Let's just say, they were gonna have a very interesting conversation when they woke up again
