Yeorin wakes up to a painful pounding in her head─or, rather, the painful pounding in her head wakes her up. Either way, she's moaning in pain the moment she regains consciousness. The other side of the bed is empty and cold when her hands wander the sheets to search for Jeno, and her eyes immediately fly open at the discovery. Just as she's about to call out his name, he walks in with a glass of water in his hand and a lone ibuprofen in the other.
"Good morning, love," he chirps and leans down to leave a kiss on her forehead. "How bad is your headache?"
"Terrible." She grumbles and downs the pill he gave her with the lukewarm water that feels rough on her dry throat. She doesn't remember much after he left with Jaemin, only recalls that she downed cups and cups of beer until she was vomiting it all out of her system in the toilet. "I shouldn't have drank so much last night."
"You always say that the day after but forget it at the next party," he says and takes the empty glass from her hand. "C'mon, let's get you out of bed before the soup gets cold."
"Let it get cold."
His attempts to pull her up or carry her fails. She doesn't budge, only looks up at him with her convincing doe eyes and bats her eyelashes. He caves in, of course, he always does. She tugs on his arm and he lets himself fall down on the bed beside her. His automatic response is to cage her in his arms and hers is to rest her head on his chest, right above his heart where she can very cleary hear the steady pounding of. She likes to believe it beats for her; if he were to hear that thought he would agree.
"Let's just stay in bed all day." She says, which is more of a statement than it is a suggestion.
"Alright," he grins down at her and she swears she can see literal hearts in his eyes. "Whatever you want, princess."
He's so smitten for her it's kind of concerning. She is too, though, she doesn't express it in words often. She can talk on and on about anything except for her feelings. That's always been a struggle for her, but he's very understanding of it. He always is, and she wonders how he managed to last three years with her. All her relationships prior to him never exceeded beyond a year.
To put it in a lighter note, Hwang Yeorin is... well, Hwang Yeorin. She's unapologetically herself, which her exes apparently did not like. If you were to ask them what she was like, they would all say the same thing: She was so damn hard to love. But Jeno doesn't seem to be having a hard time loving her. Not one bit. Not at all.
She has flaws, but he embraced every single one of them and called them beautiful. He loves her even with all her imperfections. So, maybe, her previous partners were just doing something wrong. Maybe she's actually easy to love and they just didn't know how to. But Jeno does, and he treats her right, how she deserves to be treated, after they couldn't.
"Love?" His tone is quiet and gentle as he utters the endearment─one of the many endearments he has for her─he's been calling her since they started dating and she hums in response. Her eyes are heavy, but she tries to force them to stay open. "Go back to sleep, I know you're still tired. I'll be here when you wake up."
She finally allows herself to succumb to the darkness again, closing her eyes and falling asleep to the sound of his beating heart and the feeling of his gentle hand caressing her hair. The next time she opens her eyes, he's still laying (asleep and lightly snoring) beside her as promised. She lifts her head from his chest and peeks outside the full-length windows in front of the bed where the heavens are dark and the city lights below look like the twinkling stars that prickle the night sky from the twelfth floor.
His grip around her waist is loose, and she slips out with ease but wakes him up with her movements, though, she didn't mean to. She mumbles an apology with a sheepish smile that's barely visible under the moonlight that spills itself into the dark room. He tells her it's okay, voice raspy and all, and kisses her on the forehead as he pushes himself to sit up.
