6 hours later

Krish looked bewildered when he saw me walk into his office. He was in the midst of a conversation inside the glass conference room, probably having a reading for his movie, judging by the papers that people were clutching.

I grimaced at him and gestured towards his office. He nodded and mimed '10 minutes' and looked back at his team, his expression discomfited.

I opened his office and immediately flopped down on the couch, fixing my eyes on the carpet in front of me. After weeping for an embarrassing amount of time, I booked a hotel room, stowed my stuff away, wept a little bit more and then decided that I simply can't be weeping like this. Then I found myself booking a cab to Krish's office.

I could go home, but honestly, the last thing I wanted to hear were questions or accusations.

I felt so miserable. Somewhere in my denial fuelled brain I thought that Dhruv and I....were something. All those feelings seemed to have taken a nose-dive into an icy pool of Reality.

I fished out my phone and did the one thing that was actually going according to my original plan.

Me: Dhruv and I are done. I don't want to talk about it. Please.

She replied immediately.

Ma: Come home. You don't need to talk about it. But there's something you should know

Me: I won't come home. I am somewhere else. Safe.

Ma: pick up my call. You need to hear this

Me: No

Ma: Pick up please

Me: I don't want to talk about it. Just want you to know. Call off all this engagement nonsense. Nothing is happening.

Ma: PICK UP MY CALL.

I ignored her as I stowed my phone away and heaved another sigh, feeling my chest tighten as a fresh wave of weirdly intense pain pricked at me.

I can't even do a fake relationship without it hurting me now, can I?

What a goddamn wimp.

There was gloomy silence in the empty room as I sighed and stared into nothing.

What a terrible turn of events.

I could call the last year of my life as a Terrible Turn of Events and no one can deny it.

"Hey", I turned around to see Krish walk in with Ayush. Both of them looked worried. "What happened? Are you okay?"

"Things are pretty fucked, not going to lie" I said with a weak chuckle. "Oh hey Ayush. What's up?"

"You tell me", he said, giving me a small smile as he sat down next to me. "What happened to your face?"

"Well, some bad events transpired", I allowed feebly as I looked at Krish, who was staring at me with a frown on his face. "And I just wanted to see what you guys were up to."

"What events transpired?" Krish asked.

"Uhm...events."

He rolled his eyes as he sat down next to me. "Did you two fight?"

"No", I said forcefully. "I didn't fight."

"She fought", Krish informed Ayush, who grinned at the expression on my face. "What did you say?"

"I was being totally reasonable."

"That means she yelled a bunch of stuff and vacated his place", Krish translated, turning to look at me with exasperation. "Why?"
