Prologue (Evolving Threads)

Tatsumi: Actually, I think it's best for me not to know, I want it to be a surprise.

Najenda: Suit yourself, but if you ask me. I suggest you head westward, I won't say much but I think you'd like it down there. And you don't have to call me Boss anymore as of now you and I are peers.

Tatsumi: Sorry, but Boss just feels right to me.

Najenda takes another puff of her cigarette.

Najenda: Well if that's the case, then promise me this.

Tatsumi: I'm listening.

Najenda: Never stop fighting. Reach for the stars above you in whatever you want to achieve no matter how far they may be.

Tatsumi: Cool until the very end, right boss?

Najenda: Right, now get out of here before word goes around that your alive. I'm not as good as I used to be so I won't be able to fight off the hordes of people rushing to see the "Empire's golden knight."

Tatsumi: See ya boss. It's been great.

Najenda waves Tatsumi away and just like that Tatsumi walked through the doors.

Najenda: Tatsumi. I know that you're probably hurting from the loss of your friends, I just hope that you find a group of people that can at least fill the hole where your heart is. Before you let it consume you over time. *She takes a puff of her cigarette again. * Good luck out there, Tatsumi.

Tatsumi began walking through the empire looking at all the faces of the people that were saved by Night Raid. He looked through the crowd, almost desperately trying to find either Akame or even Leone, but it was all for nothing. As he continued walking, he visited the places where his friends had died as a way of saying a final goodbye to them, before continuing on. He could swear that he could feel them waving back at him. While he was distracted, a girl with short pink hair bumped into him.

Tatsumi: Sorry about that.

After getting a good luck at her, he noticed that she had a small blade in her mouth.

Tatsumi: 'She looks like she just got finished robbing someone.'

She quickly turned around and looked at the jacket he was wearing before taking the blade out of her mouth. She was still on high alert from something.

Tatsumi: Can I help you?

The girl turned around, her eyes were a bright blue and were looked more catlike than human.

Girl: You're not out to get me, are you?

The girl had a heavy French accent and sounded almost fearful of something. She kept her eyes on Tatsumi, watching his every move.

Tatsumi: Out to get you? No, why do you ask?

Girl: Never mind. I'll be on my way now.

Tatsumi: Wait, if you need money, I know a place near the capital. Just tell them that you need money or a place to stay and they should be willing to give you something that'll help. Just tell them that Tatsumi sent you.

Girl: And why in the world should I trust you, Tatsumi?

Tatsumi: You don't have to if you don't want to. I just thought I'd be better than robbing random people. I mean we just got out of a war so the least you could do is give them a little break. By the way what's your name?

Girl: I'll take it into consideration, but if this ends up being a trap, I'll make you regret it. And as for my name? You'll know soon enough.

Tatsumi decided to ignore that last comment and continued on.
