"I'll go call for madame Pomfrey—tell her you're awake."

"Mcallister," I called after him weakly just as he had started walking away.

He turned around with a playful smile. "I forgot to say, i'm sorry for calling you by your first name earlier—I thought'd might be strange to call you Bass since you've blacked out and had just woken up."

I had never heard anyone come up with such a logical yet apologetic excuse for calling me by my first name.

"Anyhow, what's wrong?"

"Do you know what happened to me?" I dragged my left hand to my stomach.

"You were carried here after you lost your consciousness, madame Pomfrey checked you and wouldn't let anyone in until this morning."

I stopped caressing my stomach. He didn't know yet.

"Now I think she's out to fetch a potion for you."

"Do you know who carried me?" God, Clementia. Might as well just ask him if a blond head was present when you passed out, huh?

"If i'm not mistaken, one of them's Zabini," Danielle must've called him.

"The other one?" Say Malfoy, please say Malfoy...

"I don't remember. Sorry." He shrugged his shoulders.

"It's alright, no need to apologize." I pressed my lips into a thin line.

He shot me a low smile before walking out. Being with him for a few minutes made it clear to me why everyone had already started swooning even before he was sorted; they'll probably fall for him even more once they hear him talk.

I studied the few students on the beds beside me. Eventually, my eyes fell to my bedside table.

There was a red rose.

My heart was pitter-pattering as I picked it up. I didn't have time to think before I heard the voice of Danielle resounding from the entrance. "She doesn't even like you!"

Her voice was naturally brash, but right now it sounded like she was yelling.

I slid the rose under my bed.

"Oh come on, she blacked out in front of me. I have the right to at least know how she's doing."

Oh.

"Please, you were on the other end of the table, Pugsy." From what it sounded like, Pansy tagged along—for whatever reason.

"You'll make her condition worse." Danielle retorted, finally stepping inside the hospital wing. Her face brightened up once her eyes had landed on me, and she practically leapt to my bed soon after.

Pansy strayed behind her, looking at my hand on my stomach. She's the only one that knows, for now. Well, maybe her and madame Pomfrey.

"Hi." Danielle beamed, propping her hands on the side of the hospital bed.

"Hi, Dani." I smiled weakly at her before glancing at the black-haired beside her. "Pansy."
