"Expelliarmus." Harry yelled. "Stay where you are!"

But it was too late. They all heard a howl and then a growl.

"Sirius, he's gone, Pettigrew transformed!" Harry yelled.

Black was bleeding, there were gashes across his muzzle and back. The werewolf and the dog had disappeared. There was no adults nearby, besides Snape, who was still floating unconsciously.

The four of them were heading straight to the castle when they heard a loud bark and then a whining sound. Harry set off at a run towards the noise and Hermione went after him.

"What do we do now?" Ron asked fearfully.

"We have to head back to the hospital wing." Grace spoke. "But, before that... I'll regret this, but I need to do it."

Grace undid the spell that was making Snape float. Ron and Grace leaned on each other and went to the hospital wing, leaving an unconscious Snape on the grounds of the school.

After a while they both were able to get to the hospital wing.

"Madam Pomfrey!" Grace called.

"Merlin's beard, what happened?" Madam Pomfrey asked them.

"Long story." Ron said. "I think I broke a leg."

Ron lay down on one of the beds with Madam Pomfrey's help.

"I don't know if I broke a leg, but it hurts a lot, I also have several scratches..." Grace spoke.

Grace lay down on one of the beds as well. Madam Pomfrey started healing them, and then she handed Ron a potion so he could sleep.

After a certain time, Harry and Hermione arrived, both unconscious on stretchers that were being dragged by Snape with his wand, but he soon left the hospital wing.

Sometime later Grace heard someone talking in the hall, it was Snape and Fudge.

"Shocking business... shocking... miracle none of them died... never heard the like... by thunder, it was lucky you were there, Snape..."

"Thank you, Minister."

"Order of Merlin, Second Class, I'd say. First Class, if I can wangle it!"

"Thank you very much indeed, Minister."

"Nasty cut you've got there... Black's work, I suppose?" Fudge asked.

"As a matter of fact, it was Potter, Weasley, and Granger, Minister..."

"No!" Fudge said, he sounded surprised.

"Black had bewitched them, I saw it immediately. A Confundus Charm, to judge by their behavior. They seemed to think there was a possibility he was innocent. They weren't responsible for their actions. On the other hand, their interference might have permitted Black to escape... They obviously thought they were going to catch Black single-handed. They've got away with a great deal before now... I'm afraid it's given them a rather high opinion of themselves... and of course Potter has always been allowed an extraordinary amount of license by the headmaster —"

"Ah, well, Snape... Harry Potter, you know... we've all got a bit of a blind spot where he's concerned."

Harry was lying down with his eyes closed.

"What amazes me most is the behavior of the Dementors... you've really no idea what made them retreat, Snape?"

"No, Minister... by the time I had come 'round they were heading back to their positions at the entrances..."

"Extraordinary. And yet Black, and Harry, and the girl —"

"All unconscious by the time I reached them. I bound and gagged Black, naturally, conjured stretchers, and brought them all straight back to the castle."

Grace noticed that Madam Pomfrey went towards Harry's bed, who was now awake.

"Ah, you're awake!" she said, handing him a chocolate bar.

"How's Ron?" Hermione asked.

"He'll live," Madam Pomfrey said. "As for you two, you'll be staying here until I'm satisfied you're — Potter, what do you think you're doing?"

Harry was sitting up, putting his glasses back on and picking up his wand.

"I need to see the headmaster," Harry said.

"Potter," Madam Pomfrey said soothingly. "it's all right. They've got Black. He's locked away upstairs. The Dementors will be performing the kiss any moment now —"

"WHAT?"

Harry jumped out of bed, so did Hermione. His shout had been heard in the corridor outside, Fudge and Snape walked in. While Fudge went to Harry and Hermione, Snape went to Grace.

"Grace! You're also here! How could you be so reckless?!" Snape started to lecture his daughter, but then he noticed she was injured. "Are you alright? How did you get hurt?"

"I dislocated a leg bone and I got a few scratches from the Whomping Willow..." she told him.

Snape got closer to his daughter to hug her, but then he saw the scratches on her chest were from claws.

"DID BLACK DO THIS TO YOU? THANFULLY HE'S ABOUT TO BE KISSED BY THE DEMENTORS! HE'LL PAY FOR THIS!"

"DAD! Sirius is innocent!" Grace said.

"And you're calling him by his first name! I knew he must've used Confundus on you! Black was responsible for your mother's death, Grace! How can you defend him?"

"Look in my eyes, dad! And tell me if I'm lying or if I he casted a spell on me!" Grace said.

For a few seconds Snape looked deep into his daughter's eyes, that were green just like Lily's. He didn't say anything else.
