TW: Crying, Swearing
--
Florida suns bathed the room in an orange sunset glow, refracting and reflecting it's gentle tangerine beams across the empty room. Tan painted walls barren and void seeming, their surface clean and clear of dust and residue. The brown carpet freshly vacuumed and sprayed with a carpet cleaner-making the room smell weirdly like men's shampoo.
His eyes stared outside into the apricot sunset, wishing to feel the warmth on his tan; freckled skin once more. Urging to sit down on his white railed balcony that hung over the Florida streets, and immerse himself into the late day. His eye's focused on his rattled reflection on his side of the window, his gentle khaki skin glistening with pools of sweat along his temples and the bridge of his straight nose. Pink, flustered cheeks speckled with freckles along the bags underneath his eyes. He reached up and brushed his fingertips against the cool glass, making an icy shiver vibrate down his spine; a soft exhale escaping from his warm lips.
"What are you doing?" An appealing voice-making goosebumps reverberate up his forearms-sounded behind him. He whirled around; keeping his fingertips on the surface of the glass; and stared at the short figure leaning on the tan wall. The individual ran his fingers through the roots of his black; side parted hair that reached to just below his ears. Small black curls touching the skin of his ear. He reached up and began slightly finicking with the lobe piercing that hung from his left ear. The earring stretching south while the bottom was shaped like a cross. "Dream?"
"Sorry," Dream answered quietly, quickly shooting a look back at the Florida sunset and turning to his best friend. Pressing his shoulder blades against the thick transparent window. "What did you say?"
He rolled his greyish toned irises, a small smirk curling up his cheeks. "You sometimes have the attention span of a teaspoon Dream," he remarked. "I asked what you were doing."
"Oh-I was just enjoying this view one last time before I never see it again." He frowned, wrinkling the bridge of his nose and pushing an exasperated breath through his front teeth. "You get it, right Sapnap?"
Sapnap quickly shot his eyes away and down to the freshly cleaned floor. "Not really. I have never lived in an apartment that was more than two stories off of the ground, I've seen too many horror movies to know that people get pushed off of balconies way too often." He lightly chuckled deep in his throat, shaking his head. "Is everything out of here? There is probably still something kicking around knowing you." He leaned around the empty living room corner and peeked into the bedroom just past the wall.
Dream stared at his closest companion for a few seconds, his warm heartbeat ticking like the needles on a clock. "Yeah, everything should be out." He walked forward, toward Sapnap and leaned against the separating wall. "I'm gonna miss this place, all of the stupid inconsistencies that I've grown accustomed to."
"The flooring is oddly bumpy, how are you going to miss that?" Sapnap turned back to him, his slit eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Left hand clutching the doorframe to Dream's old bedroom tightly.
Dream shrugged and broke his tough stare with the short individual and stared back out the window. "I've been here for quite awhile, I'll wake up tomorrow at your place and be so confused. It's gonna be tough Sap."
Sapnap stood silent for a second, before shaking his head and slapping his palm down on Dream's right shoulder. "Don't get sentimental, if you cry; I cry." He pushed his index finger into his own sternum. "We should get going, Patches is probably freaking out right now."
Dream's heart throbbed as he thought of his chocolate brown and white tabby stressing her fur out in the unknown environment. She had practically grew up in this empty apartment, and she would have to get used to Sapnap's messy place. "I forgot, yeah let's go-" He pulled away from Sapnap and beelined for the front door, the cold atmosphere of the empty apartment making the blonde hairs on his forearms stand up. Clutching the golden doorknob in his clammy palm, he slowly tugged the door open; the hinges screaming with age. He turned and looked over his shoulder for a few seconds, scanning the barren walls and stain-free floor.
