"Excited for senior year?" I hear mum say, placing plates down on the dinning table. My brothers sit down, laughing as they tell me how bad or good their senior day was. I grimace as I get reminded of the exams, "I guess, what if I don't do well?" I say slowly losing my appetite. "Cállate los tres!" (Shut up you three) My mum scolds my brothers as she sits down on the table, smiling as she looks at me.  "Mia, you're perfectly fine academically, don't worry about what these idiotas say." She assures me, she wasn't wrong so I decided to cheer up, grabbing two pieces of pan con tomate, taking bites out of it as I listen to my mother talking about her senior days. I lived with my two older brothers and a younger brother and my mum, my dad had left my mum when I was six but my mum was so independent she didn't need him to raise four kids. She inspires me a lot.

After 30 minutes of eating, packing, saying goodbyes and walking to the bus stop, the bus finally arrives and I get on it. There were a lot of freshmen this year, the bus was a lot more fuller than usual. There were three seats left, one was next to a freshmen girl that was probably waiting for a friend, the other had his bag in the seat so I opted for the one near the middle. Next to a guy I recognised from my previous classes. "Can I sit here?" I ask, taking my bag off. He seems to be in deep thought with his headphones in so I tap on his shoulder, repeating my question. "Uh, yeah go ahead." He looks flustered as he moves his bag from the ground of the seat to his lap. I mumble a thanks, smiling and then taking my seat. "Senior year right?" I ask him, turning my head. He looks surprised but quickly replies. "Yeah." He doesn't talk much huh? "Cool, I recognised you from my classes." I say, turning back around. I don't realise that his face was red as he looked down at his bag.

"Mia!! Oh how I missed you!" I twist my head as I hear a very familiar voice behind me. I smile widely as I open my arms, hugging her. "Amelia! How was your trip to London?" I ask her, curious. "Oh it was amazing! I got sooo many pictures oh and yesterday when I got back, Brody asked me out!" I gasp as I squeal with her, Brody had been her longtime crush since 9th grade, she was friends with him for a bit so it was happy to hear that he finally asked her out since she was too scared. Speaking of boys, "Hey, you know that guy that was in our maths class last year, the one who wore black clothes and had fluffy brown hair?" I furrow my eyebrow, thinking about him as I describe him to Amelia. "Yeah I think he's name was.. Felix?" She says, guessing. I gasp, fully remembering him as I tell her what happened on the bus today. "No way! Why didn't he talk to you?" She says, having a confused face. "Maybe he doesn't like me?" I murmur out. Amelia shakes her hand, draping her arm over my shoulder and dragging me to our lockers.

"Lara's coming to school tomorrow since she's coming back from Japan today afternoon." I nod my head, opening my locker. I grab my books out, so does Amelia after checking our schedules. Our schedules along with Lara's had mostly matched since we all picked out the same classes. Me, Amelia and Lara were the closest trio in our school, we had all been friends since 5th grade. "The bell will ring soon, let's go to English." I hear Amelia say, hugging her thick books of English and Chemistry. I shut my locker and we walk to the classroom together. We had the same teacher as last year for English, and most of our classmates were the same too since it was regular English. "Alright class, as promised last year since a lot of you students were in my class there will be a seating plan!" She claps her hands, smiling as everyone groans. I didn't mind where I sat, as long as it was with Amelia and Lara.

The seating plan was interesting, I had Amelia sitting across me, and Felix next to me! To say I was surprised would be an understatement, Amelia shot me a grinning look as I playfully roll my eyes. I turn around in my seat, our desk was near the back so no one really paid attention. "Hi, i know we know each other but I'm Mia, you are?" I put my hand out in a handshake, expecting it back. He looks at me confused, "Felix." He hesitates before shaking my hand, pulling it back after a few seconds. I smile as I turn back around, listening to the teacher. I don't know why or how but I side-stared him discreetly every now and then, getting caught twice by him. He'd look flustered every time he caught me, was I that obvious? Gosh he was so attractive. How come I didn't notice him before?
