Doctor Stephen Strange had been peacefully enjoying his evening at the New York Sanctum, reviewing various shielding spells.

Until, using the Eye of Agamotto, he sensed a disturbance in the multiverse. Stephen sighed. It had already been a very tiring day fighting off threats from different dimensions, but he still reluctantly put down his book.

He stood up, preparing to open a portal, as the Cloak of Levitation flew over and landed on his shoulders. Slipping on his sling ring, he opened a portal to the location of the disturbance.

Stephen came out at a different street in New York. He spotted it immediately. "It" was a huge, tentacled MONSTER. That was the only way to describe such a hideous thing. Made up of some sort of gooey inter-dimension plasma substance, making it look transparent.

Bystanders were running everywhere, fleeing the chaos behind them. A few buildings were partially smashed and one had caught fire.

All in all, it was a typical inter-dimension invasion for Stephen.

He conjured two glowing, orange shields and approached the beast. Immediately, Stephen was engaged in a battle with the creature. Blocking waving tentacles and striking the beast with various magical spells.

Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye he saw one person that wasn't running away on terror.

"Run!" Stephen thought, although something seemed familiar about the person.

Stephen's distraction gave the monster an opening to attack, which it used to strike Stephen across the chest. Giving him a long bleeding gash.

Doctor Strange cried out in pain, stumbling. Luckily, he had the Cloak of Levitation to keep him from falling completely.

Thinking quickly, Strange began to open a portal underneath the monster to send it back to its own dimension. With the spell completed the beast tumbled through and the portal closed.

Stephen's wound was bleeding heavily and he put pressure on it with his hand in an attempt to slow the bleeding. He turned around, planning to create a portal to the hospital, when he saw six of Earth's mightiest hero's staring at him. The Avengers.

"Looks like you didn't need our help after all," said Steve Rogers, or as most people know him, Captain America.

"Yeah," said the one and only Tony Stark, "When I first got here things didn't look so good for you."

So Tony was the person that had seemed familiar earlier. Makes sense, his face is always all over the news.

"I appreciate your concern, but I really must be going now." said Stephen, who was starting to get dizzy from blood loss.

"Hey! You can't just run off!" shouted Tony, walking forward as if to stop Strange from getting away.

" Oh Gosh!" said Natasha Romanov, the Black Widow, "You need to get that looked at."

The Avengers had somehow just noticed that Stephen was dripping blood all over the pavement.

"Um... you need to get to a hospital or something." said Bruce Banner.

"Yeah," said Hawkeye, "Should I call an ambulance?"

"No need," said the the sorcerer, smirking despite his wound.

He opened a portal to the hospital and stepped through.
