"Ydris is on a trip," Xin spoke, his voice muffled by his mask.
I looked at Alex who looked just as stund as I did. Xin had never spoken to us, yet alone a sentence. My eyes glued back to him as he simply stared at me, his gaze making me feel sick. Xin knew that I knew where Ydris was; I was surprised that he didn't know anything about this at all. He knew who I was and maybe what had happened between me and Ydris, or the fact that I hadn't stepped out of the wagon until the next day on some occasions.
I broke away from those thoughts as Alex huffed, her eyes flickering around. "That's no good news is it?" She said to me, her voice flat.
I let my eyes linger over her, soon turning back to face Xin. Ydris had said that he would be back yesterday, which must have been an assumption. If he was still gone, that meant that whatever he was doing was taking longer than he expected. I let out a breath, slightly relieved at that. Xin still stood there, outstretching his finger out behind us. Me and Alex both turned, seeing nothing but fog. We looked back at Xin, who still yet pointed out behind us.
"I think he wants us to leave," Alex said, pulling out her phone.
I watched as she started to type, opening my mouth before something caught my eye. I turned, seeing sudden purple smoke suddenly appear near the wagon, soon disappearing, revealing no other than Ydris.
Fuck.
Alex too looked up, her eyes immediately darkening. I watched as Ydris dusted off his coat before he looked up at us, looking at me first.
"Convenient timing is it not?" He spoke, his eyes going to Alex who now glared at him. "My deepest apologies my dove for running behind, something came up that one had to deal with."
Alex's eyes bounced over to me, her eyes furrying as she studied me. I could see the questions on her face as she eyed me for a bit, looking back at Ydris. He calmly leaned against the side of the wagon, his sly grin on his face as he looked at me. I swallowed, knowing exactly how this would go.
"What brings you two here so suddenly?" He asked, breaking the silence. "I see last time we figured everything out."
Alex bit her lip, the sense of anger working strongly. "We unfortunately did not due to this place being filled to the brim of Pandorian energy, along with our trip fucking up," she spat.
His grin widened. "What makes you think that this place would die down after your mission?"
"If we destroyed Pandoria, then all of its energy around would fade off, which it didn't."
"Did you ever think that Pandoria would be destructible?"
"What is your point?" Alex spoke out, her voice getting harsher.
Ydris adjusted his position and crossed his arms, his eyes holding my gaze. "Pandoria is filled with misfits and will have the smallest amount of energy left even if the core of it is gone. Whatever energy is left in Jorvik with Pandoria, that can hold a knot with it, keeping it active."
He broke away from my gaze, looking at Alex. The look of disgust and anger was deeply engraved on her face, her body ready to take a fight.
"Therefore, even if Pandora is completely gone, whatever came from it and that is no longer there can keep the world going," he finished.
"Then how do we get rid of those things?" Alex snapped.
Ydris smirked. "You can't, Pandoria can control those beings outside of its world. Plus, as I'm sure you'll know, Pandoria is capable of anything."
I could tell Alex wanted to rage, her eyes said it all. I looked at her, her eyes pinned to him as he simply stared at her, a pleased, sly look on his face.
"This is ridiculous," she spoke allowed.
"When hasn't it not been?" Ydris replied, the tone of his voice coated with pride.
Alex grimaced, mumbling as she shared a gaze with him, seething with anger. Ydris gave her one final look before he looked back at me, the sense of amusement in his gaze. I felt myself hold onto it, locking my eyes with his. I then broke away as Alex suddenly backed Tin-Can up, turning him around and gesturing for me to follow, her swearing under her breath audible. I looked at Ydris one last time before I followed her out, hearing him smirk and soon walk off. I felt like I was being pulled in two different situations. I knew stuff that I couldn't tell Druids, and committed actions that I now had spilled. Ydris knew that as well, and having him drop lines and play with actions like that made every part of this risky. I knew exactly why he was doing it, and he did too.
I blinked those away when I reached Alex's side, hearing her still mumbling. "This is ridiculous," she said, her voice still agitated. "How can he be so self confident and overpowering that I can't even word a sentence without being outsmarted."
I sucked in a breath, looking at her gaze. "Maybe-"
"How'd we know he's not lying? He's a bloody magician and it wouldn't be the first time he pulled a stunt like this," she interrupted, cutting me off.
I remained silent, unsure of what to say. I couldn't tell her what I knew, or the truth behind it all, not unless she was going to say anything. I turned back towards her as her expression seemed to relax a bit, her mouth in a firm straight line as her eyes looked ahead, her mind seeming to take over her.
I took that opportunity to stay quiet, hoping to get to the end of the ride without a word. After a few minutes, I felt a gaze on me. I looked up, pushing away from what I was thinking about to see Alex looking at me, her eyes burning holes into me.
"Did you really have sex with Ydris?" She asked, her tone flat and controlled.
I shut my eyes, licking my lips as I felt the familiar heat rise up again. I looked at my gloved hands as they seemed numb with cold before I looked back up at her, dreading to know what she'd think.
"Yes I did," I said, my voice quivered.
Her eyes held mine, the feeling of breaking away like a crime. "So you really did sleep with him? Twice?"
I nodded. "But it wasn't intentionally. I had only gone there at first to tell him that what was happening between us had to stop and then I got caught up-"
"And you realized you wanted him," she finished, her eyes leaving mine.
"Yes," I said quietly, trying to get her attention back on me. I had no idea what she was thinking, or what she thought of the whole thing. Unlike Linda, her actions were hidden, making it hard for me to comprehend them. I truly hoped that this meant she had a different aspect on it then Linda did, or if she didn't, that she wouldn't be as furious.
"I know that he's on the opposite side of all of this, but when I round a few nights ago and told him about what we had done, he had no clue," I said.
Alex's eyes guided back to mine, the same look of darkness fading in. "He's pulled stunts and held things captive from us, not to mention that he can do whatever he wants whenever he wants," she said, her voice starting to furry. "He's a ringmaster who can pull any sort of magic trick or find his way into the Druids."
I looked back ahead, then back at her as I swallowed the lump that started to grow. "Look I know what he's done and what he can do but surely if he was planning anything he would drop hints."
"How'd you know he hasn't already? Where and what did he do on this trip? It was conveniently after ours and the look on his face when I said Pandoria doesn't give me much hope."
I sighed, feeling Alex look at me one final time before she left the conversation hanging, the rest of the ride back silent as my thoughts echoed through me, thinking about what she had said.
