"You Lit My World, Like Sunlight"

This is a poem I wrote for school. Although I was forced to write a poem about love, I genuinely enjoyed writing this one. Although its short, it still deserves a place in this book.

You lit up my world,
like sunlight into a window,
a room filled with the darkness.
The darkness of my sorrow.

This darkness can only be chased away
by sunlight. Simply turning on a
light can't chase it away.

A light bulb would do no good.

I need the sunshine to spill into the
room and make the darkness go away.

Soak into the walls, the floors, the
ceiling, and into the furniture so the
darkness, never return.

So there I sat, drowning in sorrow...

Then you came along
and you shone through that window
Like sunlight,
you lit up my room,

My dear, sweet, love.
