"class," the teacher, mr. el began. "today's the day you can find out your parts for the school's newest play." he said, in a much too happy voice.

everyone yelled in excitement, but i just sank in my seat. i didn't want to be in the acting class, my parents practically forced me. they'd always say i had so much 'potential', and i needed to do more, so i had to be here.

i felt a slight nudge from behind me. i sighed, and turned around, only to be faced by four boys i hated with literally every fiber of my being.

"what do you want?" i asked, trying not to sound too annoyed.

"where's the joker, harley?" the blonde boy teased.

"don't you all have something better to do than pester me?"

"no," the curly haired boy replied, and laughed slightly.

"harley, boys. there's a time and a place." mr. el said, sending us a displeased look.

"sorry," we all spoke in unison.

"you can all go see the parts you got in the hall." mr. el told us all.

i sat in my seat, waiting for the pile of over excited teens to die out. i never understood all the excitement over high school plays. it's not like ann hathaway is going to be sitting in the audience observing your work, or something. just your parents, people you hate and your friends.

i stood up, flashing the teacher a small smile.

there was still a bunch of people crowding that particular spot of the hall. either someone was crying about what part they got, or screaming in happiness about the same thing.

i pushed through the emotional bunch to the paper, which had our names and parts writtin on it. beside it was a smirking luke.

"why are you making that face? did a girl flash her boobs to you or something?" i asked.

"what- no. just read your part and my part." he said, and pointed to the paper pinned to the wall.

harley gage - juliet
luke hemmings - romeo

"no, no, no," i repeated, running back to the room.

"mr. el, you cannot pair me up with... that thing!" i exclaimed.

he chuckled, "oh, harley, but i can, and i will."

"what?" i asked.

"you two need to work whatever so called problems you have out. it's not cute, it's not funny, and it's quite frankly getting old. the principal is tired of you both, everyone is tired of you two. more so than you and the other boys." he replied.

"but i have to kiss him, and i refuse to do that. just use someone else. one of his groupies, or whatever they're called." i said.

"you two will kiss. it's a play, it means nothing. well, unless you let it," he stated.

"what do you mean?" i asked, confusedly.

"it means don't fall in love with me, babe." luke's voice echoed through the room. i looked around, and found him leaning against the door to the room.

"it does, indeed." mr. el confirmed.

"don't come crying to me when your play is rubbish." i said, and started stomping out of the classroom.

"so, juliet," luke said, throwing his arm around me.

"get off me, luke." i retorted, throwing his arm off of me.

"come on, babe. come hang out with me and the boys." he said, dragging me to the opposite direction of where i was going.

"my dad's a cop, pretty boy. so you should probably stop fucking with me while you're ahead."

"you're a real bitch, you know that?"

"and you're a fuckboy who sleeps with girls every night, and thinks he's all that and a cup of pudding for doing so, but is really just a man-whore." i spat, and turned on my heel to go back to where i was headed.

"see you at rehearsals, babe." he yelled, and i threw my middle finger up in response.

they say keep your friends close, and keep your enemies closer. but this enemy and i were getting way too fucking close.

"where are you off to, ms. quinn?" michael asked.

"none of your business. now get out of my way." i said, motioning for him to move.

he smirked, "i heard you're playing juliet,"

i sighed, "you sadly heard right."

"but lukey boy is mine," ashton pouted.

"what?" i questioned.

"what?" he repeated.

"i- whatever, just get out of my way. i have a life and things to do, unlike you all. so if you could kindly block someone else's path, that would be amazing, and i'd be forever grateful." i said, sarcastically.

"you're such a sarcastic bitch." calum stated.

"luke's told me, you've told me, my mom's told me, i got it. try something else," i retorted, and they all walked off.

thank god, i just wanted to leave and never come back. i didn't want to do rehearsals, i didn't want to kiss luke, or be his juliet. i just wanted to lock myself in my room and never return. anything would be better than what the inevitable future was holding.
