A Hard Way to learn a lesson

Eavesdropping

I stood there to stunned to speak.
"Jess," Liam called softly. I turned around to face him. I blinked a bit, trying to clear the tears. The way he just got up and left us, with no care in the world, while we all sat and broke down.
"Are you okay?" Liam came over putting his hand on my shoulder. 
"I'm good," my voice was hoarse and sounded weird to it's normally confident self.
"May May?" she looked up at me her eyes watery but then they almost seemed to harden up.
"What?" She spat. This shocked, not just me, but everyone in the room. I narrowed my eyes.
"You may not want to become friends with them," Maisie gestured to the four boys who were on the couch completely clueless and then to Liam who stood by me, "But I do, because I need my best friends back, and you aren't them," she got up ready to leave.
"You, you, don't think I miss it every day?" I started off stuttering but regained my confidence as anger ran through my veins, "You think I'VE changed? Look at YOU! You look like the sluts we used to make fun of!" 
"AND LOOK AT YOU! YOU'RE LIKE THE B****** WE USED TO HATE!" She flung right back at me, "THERE IS NO TRACE LEFT OF L ANYMORE! I HAD TO MAKE YOU WEAR THAT D*MNED OUTFIT, THAT LOOKS SO MUCH LIKE HER!"
"L IS GONE! YOU HEAR ME! SHE'S NOT IN OUR GROUP OF FRIENDS ANYMORE! DA*N IT! SHE'S DISAPPEARED OF THE FACE OF THIS PLANET! CAPICHE! SO STOP TRYING TO MAKE ME HER!" I screamed. That's when everything went silent. I looked at everyone and saw remorse and sympathetic stares.
They think L was a different person altogether.
I realized that the really did think that. I could use that in my advantage in the future.
"L is never gone," Maisie whispered before she fled the room. I groaned. L would go after her, but J wouldn't. It's these stupid clothes I swear! They make me more like L. Well, I need to fight it for now. So I sit down next to Ash and close my eyes.

"Well today has been... eventful" Harry said getting up to leave
"Yeah well we hope you um enjoyed it" Niall followed Harry's movements
"And um maybe see you around later or tomorrow or never" Zayn whispered the last part but I could still hear him
"See you tomorrow Jess!" Liam waved
I looked around the room and I couldn't see Louis so I guess it wouldn't hurt
"BYE LI LI!" I screamed and jumped on his back. The boys burst out laughing while Liam just went red. I started laughing to I mean how could I not?
"What's with all the laughter?" Louis asked and that's when my mouth slammed shut. Everyone else went silent to
"I thought I was the cause of all the laughter but now I seem to be the preventererer of it" He tried to figure out how many ers went on preventerererer.. I DONT EVEN KNOW! It reminds me of something L.... No. This is not happening. But you prefer L. No. Stop it. You can't stop yourself thinking this smat a$$. Leave me alone! You leave me alone I was here first!
Ugh! I hated my arguments with myself 'cause I always loose 
"Uh, yeah, see you later Liam," I mumbled getting off him.
Liam shot me a confused look at the sudden change of attitude, I just shrugged it off.
"Bye weirdos who never want to see me again according to the one with a ramp as hair," (I know his hair isn't like that anymore but it was when I first wrote this so, sorry) I waved.
They walked out the door and I heard Zayn mumble, "My hair doesn't look like a ramp," and a  few "Yes it does" coming out of their mouth's jokingly.
"B-bye!" Ash waved. She shut the door when they were out of sight and turned around looking furious.
"Let me get this straight!" She began, "Not only have you lied to me years on end about a friendship-"
"Ex-friendship" I interrupted her knowing what she was going to say.
"Fine an ex-friendship, you were also supposed to have a date with Liam Payne today and you have the scariest friend EVER!"
I nodded but it got cut short from Ash's continuing rant, "And, you know what? I've never seen you act that happy ever with anyone and I just can't believe"
She continued to ramble but my phone went off.

I smiled slightly.
"and.. Wait, who's calling?" Ash stopped mid-sentence
"No one of importance," I smiled even wider as I accepted the call shooing Ash away, she pouted and stayed where she was.
"Hey Liam," I said as Ash jumped up and down.
"It really is a small world then?" Niall asked.
"Liam" I repeated.
"What's happening?" Ash asked coming closer trying to hear, while I swatted her away.
"She wasn't as nice as I thought she'd be," Harry added.
"I think he butt dialed me" I said turning to Ash.
"Put it on speaker and be quiet," she replied.
"Mkay" I did as she asked and sat on the couches. 
"Yeah, I really did think she's be kinder, she seemed to really hate me," The evil voice of Louis came out. Evil may have been over board, but still.
"She doesn't hate you," Liam said.
"Yes, I do," I said in a high pitched voice, luckily they didn't hear because Louis said, "Yes she does" at the exact same time. I mouthed 'sorry' to Ash as she glared at me.
"She just doesn't particularly like you," Liam said. I rolled my eyes, that basically means I hate him.
"That basically means she hates me," Louis voiced my thoughts, he always did that.. NO STOP THINKING ABOUT IT!
"Well, she defended me against the really scary lady, so I guess I approve," Zayn interjected. I smiled, I guess I did defend him.
"She wasn't that bad, we had a real laugh with her," Harry added.
"Yeah, but when I came, she went all, I HATE LOUIS," Louis finished.
"Maybe she just needs to warm up to you, Lou, I'm sure if you guys just  spend a day together-" Harry began but,me being me, just had to jump up from the couch and scream,
"NO WAY! I'M NOT DOING THAT!" 
Ash face palmed herself.
"Did you guys hear that?" Niall asks
"Yeah, it kinda sounded like Jess," Zayn said.
I heard shuffling probably trying to find out where the voice came from.
"Well, she's not in the car" Liam confirmed.
"You guys seriously thought I was in the car, wow!" I laughed before Ash hit me on the head.
"We're supposed to be quiet!" Ash whispered/yelled.
"Yeah but they think I'm in the car!" I continued to laugh.
"Jess, seriously, how are you doing this?" Niall asked kinda scared. Ash went to hang up but I shook my head. I wanted to play!
"I'm speaking to you guys through telepathy, duh!" I spoke into the receiver.
"Really?" Niall asked
"Yeah, I'm actually a Super Villain and now I'm going to kill you all in your sleep," I smiled.
"No, please don't-"
"She's not a super villain, Niall!" Louis shouted
"Really? Then how else do you explain me talking to you?" I asked. There was silence.
"You've gotta be in the car!" Louis sighed exasperatedly. 
"Lou, we've tried everywhere!" Zayn matches Louis' sigh.
"You haven't checked Liam's bum" I suggested.
"Wha?" I heard Liam say before I hung up. Ash and I both burst out laughing!
"I w-wish we c-could've seen t-there faces!" I laughed.
"I can imagine though," And then that started a whole new wave of laughter. But then it dawned on me.
