Phoenix PoV

I looked at Maya with wide eyes as I processed what she just told me. "W-What?" I asked and she sighed, "You heard me, Nick... I'm breaking up with you..." She muttered and I held both of her shoulders tightly, "W-Why?! D-Did I do something wrong?" I asked her with tears in the corners of my eyes.

She looked away, "Sister Iris... You still love her, don't you?" She smiled sadly and touched my right cheeks, "I saw the way you look at her, Nick... You always looked at her softly with a little yearning from your eyes... She's the only one who you looked at that way..."

She smiled sadly at me, "So, I concluded that you might still love her... I'm leaving because... I don't want to be in the way... I promise I'll always be there. As your best friend, I'll support you in every way I can... But that's it. We're only best friends... You guys deserved each other, Nick and who am I to stop and get in the way?" She then kissed my forehead one last time.

She grabbed her bags and opened the door. She turned to me and smiled brightly, "I'll always be here to be your assistant and best friend!" She said then exited the office. I fall to my knees, crying. "Maya!... Maya!..." I chanted her name, hoping that she will hear it and run back into my arms.

But she didn't much to my disappointment. Deep down, I know that she'll come back... As my best friend.

I checked my wallet and sighed, 'I'm broke...' I thought, sweat dropping. I noticed something on my wallet that seems like a coupon. I pulled it out and saw a 'Burger Shop 50% off coupon'. I smiled sadly, remembering my ex-girlfriend. It's been 3 months since we broke up and she's still in Kurain Village.

I then heard the office door shut, I looked up and saw my current girlfriend, Iris. After clearing my mind, I decided to take Maya's advice about dating Iris, and here we are now.

She hugged me, "Feenie!" I smiled and hugged her back, "Hey there my flower," I said to her while pecking her lips. She blushed and hugged me tighter, making me chuckle.

"Feenie, I think we need to break up..." Iris muttered making me widen my eyes, "W-What?" I asked and she sighed, "You heard me, Feenie... I'm breaking up with you...". I clutched my chest as I started breathing heavily, 'T-This...is... too familiar'

She immediately hugged me and looked at me, "It's just that...Sister Bikini told me that... I have to choose over you or her and the temple so that I don't have to go back and forth and tire myself..."

"And... I don't want to leave Sister Bikini alone, Feenie... I hope you understand..." She then kissed my forehead, just like Maya did, and turned the doorknob.

"We'll still be friends, Feenie," She said one last time and left the office. I started crying but not as much as before. I felt a light tap on my shoulder and saw Trucy looking at me sadly, "Daddy... Are you ok? Where's mommy Iris?" She asked.

I ruffled her hair, "Sorry Truce, She's not 'mommy' Iris anymore..."

"Hey, Nick! It's been a while! Let's go eat burgers where we used to eat!" Maya said, grabbing my arm. It's been months since Maya finished her training to become the master of Kurain Village.

I chuckled and let myself be pulled, "Alright, Alright". We soon arrived at the burger joint and order our burgers. As we are eating I noticed the burger sauce is smudged under her lips.

I sighed and wiped it off with the napkin, making her freeze for a while. After I'm done, I noticed that she's smiling at me, making me blush a little, 'Phoenix! Focus! You guys are not dating anymore!' I yelled internally but at the same time, the other half of me is just admitting that she became cuter for the past 9 years.

I quickly looked away and ate my burger. I then heard a little giggle, I turned around and saw her giggling at me. I raised an eyebrow and she waved her hands around, "You're so cute, Nick!"

I blushed and laughs, "Stop joking around, Maya!" I said and she hit me my arm playfully, "I'm telling the truth!". We both laughed and soon stopped. I looked at Maya and my eyes soften, My feelings for her reappeared again.

Wait, Scratch that. It never left in the first place. Even when I'm dating Iris, I couldn't help but admit that I still have feelings for her. We both looked at each other with a smile. She then breaks eye contact by taking a bite out of her hamburger. I quickly turned around and ate my hamburger.

"Anyways, I want to tell you something.." She said and rummages through her purse. She then handed me a white envelope, making me raise my eyebrow, "What's this for...?"

She then blushed and scratched her cheek, "You know that one time I told you that I met this man named Anno? (Yep, he's back)" She asked and I nodded slowly. "Well, You see we got together and last month... He proposed to me!" She said while blushing.

I felt my heart shattered into pieces. I slowly opened the envelope and saw an invitation...

'The honor of your presence is requested at the wedding of Anno Deer and Maya Fey'

I smiled at her, "Congrats Maya!" I greeted her. She smiled at me, "Thank you!". I felt like crying but I stopped myself, 'No... I shouldn't cry... I should be happy for her...'

The wedding bells are ringing, birds are chirping and the church is filled with a lot of lovely people. Maya entered the church with a beautiful long white gown and a veil. I smiled at myself, 'She's... Beautiful...'

I watched as Pearls, channeling Mia, guided her. Mia soon lets go of her and Maya stood in front of Anno.

Oh, how I wish it was me...

I felt my heart shattered as they said their vow to each other. "You may now kiss the bride," The priest said and they both kissed. All of the people cheered and I clapped my hands as I let tears stream down in my face, disguising it as tears of joy.

'I should be happy for her... She's my best friend...' I thought as I continued clapping, 'I have no right to cry at all... Cause it's all my fault...

I didn't move on...'
