When The 3rd Quarter Quell Is Announced

Gale

- You are all alone as your family is dead

- You are frozen in shock and disbelief

- At first you deny it, telling yourself you are dreaming

- But life as a victor is not that easy, nightmares and reality overlap way too often

- You go over to Katniss' house, feeling numb

- Her mum immediately envelopes you in a hug; Katniss has run off

- You go to Haymitch

- He has become precious to you and treats you like his own daughter

- He simply hugs you, staying silent

- He understands how you are feeling as he is in the same position, neither wanting to be trapped inside in the arena again nor wanting someone else take your position

- After a while Gale arrives

- He has searched for you and finally found you

- He cannot believe that the Capitol wants to steal you from him again; he is furious

- Yet he tries to stay calm for you to comfort you

- You two stay together for the rest of the night, lost in thought

- Either Katniss or you; Katniss' is the best friend of both of you

- It feels like Snow could not be more cruel right now

Finnick

- You two are watching the announcement together as you are literally together all the time

- Both of you already had the dream of being inside the arena together and not being able to protect each other; so it is like a nightmare is becoming reality

- For a moment you two just stare at the screen in disbelief

- Long silence with just sitting there, trying to process the situation

- Finnick is the one who breaks down

- To him it feels like his whole time at the Capitol, suffering from the prostitution, has been in vain as it did not protect you

- After you helped Finnick to calm down, you two go over to your best friend Annie Cresta to comfort her

- You promise her to volunteer if she should get reaped, which devastates all of you

- A lot of crying and hugs between the three of you

- Finnick does not dare to let go of you, even more clingy than usual

Haymitch

- You watch him throw his whiskey glass against the screen, though it is just a projection and therefore cannot be destroyed

- After all those years during which you tried to be as invisible as possible, Snow gets to you now

- You do not want to go back to the games, but neither want Peeta and Katniss to as you like them and they are younger than you two

- You cannot stand Haymitch's (even for him) excessive drinking and furious outburst

- He seems to have lost his mind, so you flee outside

- When you return Haymitch is blank, which scares you even more

- You take his bottle, put it away and sit down on his lap, resting your head on his chest

- He holds you as no words need to be exchanged

Peeta

- After a short moment you two processed the situation

- You cling onto each other, invincible hug

- Peeta and you go to Haymitch, overwhelming him with the pleas to help the other

- You two have a discussion as you both want to protect the other, but you decide that it has no sense to talk about it

- For once Peeta has no words that could cheer you up

- It is even worse that Peeta will have to pretend loving Katniss again

Johanna

- She is furious!

- Destroys most of her furnishings without even caring

- Feels like crying but does not

- Meanwhile you watch the announcement with your family

- Gale's reaction is similar to Johanna's but less extreme

- You cannot believe what you just saw and numbly leave the house

- Your mum follows you, but you brush her off with soft gestures

- "Please go", you mumble, thinking it is someone of your family

- Instead it is Haymitch, who pulls you into an embrace

- You start crying and he holds you until you have calmed down

Katniss

- Katniss' reaction is just cannon

- You watch the announcement with your family

- The thought of going back to the arena horrifies you, but since Rue's death you are feeling awful all the time anyway

- Your mum immediately hugs you crying

- You comfort her

Cressida

- A strange feeling spreads inside of her

- At first she does not understand why until she processes that you might become a tribute again

- Even imagining it feels horrible and she realizes how close you two have gotten over the last six years

- She realizes how much you mean to her and that she does not want to lose you

- Her decision to escape with you to district 13 is made
