At first King didn't move a muscle, he wiped his face and glared at Cathy with rage. Then she smiled and somehow that lightened his mood, forcing him to follow her. She walked him out of the hospital onto the restaurant roof balcony on the fourth floor. It was designed to make you feel like you were floating; when you were really just on the roof of a building and the rest of the hospital were attached in a tower shape. If you could look at it from the sky, it would be a L shape with the bottom part of the L being the fourth floor and restaurant roof. The tall part of the L was the tower and it certainly was beautiful. Cathy bought a cup of Coffee, while King got a bottle of water. The two of them sat quietly at first, but then King had a sudden urge to speak.
"I'm sorry that we are causing so much trouble," King sincerely said.
"Oh no, don't apologize! I understand, given the situation. It's just that I have to advocate for all my patients and not just one, no matter how lovely Penelope is," Cathy smiled.
"Do you think that she is going to pull out of this? Because I can't lose her, I just got her as my sister!" King cried.
"Hey listen to me, the power of life and death is in the tongue. You speak it into existence and I believe that she will do just fine. There isn't a job too hard for God. More importantly, don't give the devil room to play on your fear. The fear of losing her, instead give hope and faith that she will pull through this. I also think that you need to let your anger towards your parents go. They did the best they could and nothing can change that. You want Penelope to forgive you, but you can't forgive them? Let it go!" Cathy said, softly touching King's hand. It was against company policy to speak about religion with family members in case their beliefs were different, so she made sure that surrounding ears could not ease drop.
"God, huh? What kind of creator lets his creation go through such tragedy? What do you know about my anger? I was adopted while my real father pretended to be my neighbor. You still want me to forgive him?" King looked away.
"My birth mother sold me to a stranger when I was a month old. Then she kidnapped me and sold me again. By the time I was 9, I had seven different names, 20 parents, and 15 siblings. It took 7 years just to figure out who I was, but I'm here and I don't hate my mother. You are letting your emotions get the best of you," Cathy explained.
"What do you know? You don't know anything about me or what I went through or still going through. I longed for a real family, blood family and he could've given that to me. So, again I ask you what kind of creator allows this to happen to those he supposedly loves?" King asked.
"The kind that tried to get her or someone's attention, but they didn't listen or heed to his warnings. Look, I don't know you from Adam and the same for you about me, but I feel like there is a dark cloud hanging over you. I feel like God is pulling you toward him and if you don't heed to his warnings, things will end badly for you. Now, I mean no harm and I don't mean to speak anything on your life, this is just what's on my heart to say to you from God. You seem like a nice young man and your family seem like they are amazing. I know that you are hurting and afraid for your sister, but you must believe that things will get better. You must find peace with your upbringing. You can't hold grudges, it kills," Cathy suggested.
"How do you know so much?" King asked, finally looking at her.
"Because the bible says 'take courage for I have conquered the world' in Jesus's words. It also says that 'he will not put more on me than I can bear'. If we study the bible, we can learn a lot about this thing we call life. I don't mean to preach or push religion in your face at a time like this," Cathy apologized.
"No, don't apologize! Its fine, in fact it's the only thing that made sense since this all started. You're the first person that's made sense since this all started," King said, gazing with admiration.
On the opposite side of the restaurant, Beverly was stuffing her mouth with a bowl of salad as if she was a hungry child on the street. Jules slowly approached her sadly and waited for her to acknowledge her before she spoke.
"Hey Bev, look I don't want to fight with you guys. I'm sorry! I can't be anyone else, but me. I don't want to lose you guys, but I don't want to lose me either," Jules said, moving closer to Beverly.
Finishing her salad, Beverly replied, "I understand that, but what you don't understand is that there is a time and a place for everything. This is not the time or place!"
"I can see that clearly now, I just don't know what to do about King. He seems angry at me for something and I can't figure out what it is. I also don't like being treated like less than and so I lash out. I'm sorry, can you forgive me?" Jules pouted.
"Sure why not! Besides, if I don't and Penelope wakes up she will kill us both. Now let's go make up with King over there," Beverly said, pointing at King.
"How about I send him a text instead?" Jules stated sarcastically.
"Come on demon child!" Beverly laughed. The two of them walked over to King and the nurse sitting at the table in an intense conversation.
"Excuse me; can we talk for a second?" Beverly asked.
"Sure! You have more questions about Penelope?" Cathy replied.
"Actually, I'm all talked out," King sighed.
"Ok, later!" Jules said, attempting to walk away.
"Jules Archangel, now!" Beverly yelled as she yanked Jules shirt.
Jules walked back saying, "Alright, okay, goodness! Take a chill pill Bev, this isn't easy! Look King, I don't know what your problem is or what I've done to you-"
"Jules try again!" Beverly interrupted as she rolled her eyes and folded her arms.
"Look, I'm sorry about earlier! I really am and I want us to get along for Penelope's sake. I mean whatever is going on between us; can we fix it after Penelope is awake please, and just call it a truce for now?" Jules frowned.
King growled, "I don't have anything to say to y-"
"Let it go, remember!" Cathy said, nudging at King's arm.
"Okay, I promise to try," King released a defeated sigh.
"Alright, I have to head back to my floor. I'll see you guys in a few minutes when I check on Penelope," Cathy stated before leaving.
"Whoa, she's your girlfriend now?" Jules grinned.
"Yeah, what's up with the let it go and you listen thing?" Beverly asked.
"Listen twiddle Dee and twiddle Dumb, nothing is going on and I don't have a girlfriend," King denied.
"Well, you should make her your girlfriend if it means that you will listen to her like that all the time," Jules said.
"I bet you would love that, huh Jewelry? Let's get back to Penelope before the four parent stooges return," King suggested.
"Wait, I'm going to get more to eat and then I'll come!" Beverly replied.
"Me too, I'm hungry!" Jules added as she followed Beverly.
"Cool," King said as he began to walk back inside the hospital.
"See, I told you that you were the problem. Now all you have to do is watch what you say, when you say it, and we shouldn't have any more flare ups from King," Beverly stated as she congratulated Jules.
"It does feel like old times, so I'll try," Jules agreed.
