Ethan's POV
It was late autumn; a cool breeze descended carrying crimson leaves, announcing winter was approaching. I looked out onto the sunset and inhaled deeply, the air mixed with warm cinnamon filled my lungs. The fading sun cast an orange haze, lighting up the sky as if lit by fire, yet the haze was so crisp and clear.
I slight smile played on my lips, I could stay here for eternity just gazing at the hanging clouds, which were all splashed with random colours of hot pinks, reds and even hints of purples and blues.
My mind still felt numb though, like I have being stuck in a trance this past month. Who knew in less than a month your whole life could be ripped out from underneath you? I still couldn't accept this was my new life and I couldn't go back.
My life story is quite simple though. My Mum left my Dad, dragging me along with her, leaving Dad and my little sister Ava who is only 4 behind. We moved to Sydney and I would be starting my new school tomorrow. Just. Like. That.
I suddenly became aware of the growing crowd passing; I guess it was rush hour. This would be a normal sight for the city but after coming from a small town knowing every second person you saw the city was completely alien to me.
I looked over to my right and was greeted by bright brown eyes. Oh right Matt and I were getting something to eat. His smile seemed to grow.
"Man you were so out of it just then" He chuckled and lightly punched my arm.
I gave him a sheepish grin and in reply he rolled his eyes. "Anyways did you hear anything I said before, you know about getting sub-way", I stared at him blankly, "and seeing some of my school friends..." he continued.
"Yeah sounds good, wait... your school friends?"
"Well I figured since you're going to school tomorrow you may as well meet some of them now"
"Oh right, school's tomorrow", I said glumly.
Matt gave me an assuring smile, "Don't worry you'll like them, they're good guys".
"And I can't wait to show them you, my new mate from the country". Matt tried to put on a hillbilly accent which he was rewarded with me scuffing up his hair.
"Ok, number one, I don't have an accent. And number two why can't you wait to show them me?" I trailed off raising an eyebrow.
He bit his lip as if deciding what to say.
"Let's just say, I'm sure every girl in your old town was after you"
I chuckled at that, braking our bro-mance moment. "Come on let's go meet your friends" I said trying to divert the topic because Matt didn't know how right he was...

Eden's POV
I sat in my window seat surveying the purple haze. The dark silhouettes of twisting tree branches were dotted with twinkling lights from the city. No doubt this was pretty but I longed for the stars, no amount of my parent's money could buy me that.
I was startled by a thump and realised my sketch book was now strewn across the floor. I gathered it up and smiled at the picture of Ivy my miniature bunny I had drawn. She was so cute with a little pink bow on her head and because she was miniature she still looked like a baby.
I put down my sketch book and scooped up Ivy, the little white fluff ball who was twitching her ears still sitting on my window seat.
"Time for bed" I whispered while playing with her soft ears.
I tiptoed downstairs, the cold marble staircase sending chills through me. It wasn't particularly late but I was trying to avoid my parents. No doubt my father would be in the study and my mother would be lounging in the sitting room but I couldn't be sure.
I finally made it to the maid's quarters of the house and found one of the side doors which lead to outside. I tested the handle and was surprised when I heard the little click meaning it wasn't locked. I pushed the door open still holding Ivy close to my chest and slipped outside. I was rewarded with a gush of crisp air, how had autumn come so quickly?
I tiptoed across the lawn feeling like an intruder in my own home until I had reached Ivy's rabbit hut. I kissed her head and placed her in the hut.
I stood there for a while looking at the gorgeous Victorian mansion, I can't believe this is home. I remember before we were rich. When we used to live in a small apartment in the city and my modelling career was yet to take off.
The small smile that had crept up on my face vanished. I hadn't modelled for 6 months now, not since Harry Lawson broke my heart.

Ethan's POV
For the fifth time I asked Matt if something was on my face due to the prolonged stares people were giving me. This time when I asked he just rolled his eyes and smiled.
I almost walked past the bright subway sign but in my defence everything in the city was bright. Matt pulled my shirt and led me into Subway where a few guys who I was guessing were his friends were gathered around.
As we approached only now did I realise who Matts friends were. Tall, medium build, designer clothes, artfully messed up hair and perfect smiles. I had no idea Matt was a part of "that" group.
But this was nothing like my group from my old school, I mean come one I went to a public school. These guys went to an exclusive private school in Sydney who obviously came from rich families, what the hell was I expecting?
They all seemed to realise Matt and I were here now.
"Hey man, who's your new friend?" one of them said. They all seemed to be looking my up and down now which made me feel slightly uncomfortable.
"This my friends is Ethan, he's from the country" said Matt smiling, "Oh and he's starting at our school tomorrow".
I laughed and gave them my best shy smile, "Do you have to announce to every second person you meet I'm from the country?".
"Yeah you can tell you're not from here" another of the guys said.
Matt shot him a look which he ignored.
"How so?", I said innocently. This seemed to make them chuckle.
"Don't worry, we'll look after you" he said slinging an arm around my shoulders.
