We were pulled into a dark tent that had a pungent scent of herbs that punctuated the air causing me to wrinkle my nose. I was yanked forward and plopped down in front of a bunch of potions while Veto and Valerie were plopped down in front of a bunch of different herbs. "Now since the kids are younger than you they will be working with the safer plants, I want you to find the correct jars and seperate the potions but be very careful," the old lady said shaking her finger at me before heading over to help Valerie and Veto with any problems they might have.

I worked efficiantly but cautiously, due to the different potions I didn't know anything that might happen if one touched another. I read the labels curiously, I had never encountered potions in my short time that I have been in my human form in the book. Cardimona was used to help cure stomach aches and was a dark green color that looked like wet moss, Fractorum was used to speed up the process of healing anything, except a broken heart, and was a pale creamy color. 'How does she remember all of it,' I thought as I continued to seperate them, Howl who was keeping gaurd outside of the tent grunted in agreement to my thought.

Suddenly there was a hustle outside and the old lady quickly shooed us to the corner of the room where we would not be in the way as a man clutching a broken leg was carried in. The bone was sticking out of the skin which made my stomach churn, I heard a strangled gasp behind me and turned to see Veto turning green. I quickly flared out my wings so I was blocking their veiw receiving a disappointed grunt as well as a relieved sigh. Soon after the elderly lady had treated him the soldier left, "Well since we had an interupption why don't you rest here and we can finish up tomorrow?" she asked before leading us to a large straw mat that we could share.

Waking up with a yawn I stretched my arms over my head before realizing that I had two small figures hugging tight against me. I looked down and saw Valerie was curled up against my chest area while Veto was curled up against my lower stomach, my wings were drawn around the two as an act of shade and probably a blanket. Prying them from me I left them on the straw mat before wandering outside to find the elderly woman with her two dogs who just looked at me with lazy and goofy dog like grins. "What are there names?" I asked criss crossing beside Howl as I absentmindly rubbed her ear causing her tail to thump softly against the ground.

"This one is Maximus while the other is Brutus, I got them when I was around your age you know?" she spoke softly, Maximus was a large doberman and seemed to be the one who did the thinking while Brutus, a black german shepherd, was the brawn. The elderly woman walked back into the tent to leave me to follow her, suddenly she grabbed my arm as I went to wake up Valerie and Veto and I turned to see her staring at me with tears in her eyes. "Keep them safe, lead them to the freedom and help them make the right choices," she whispered softly before shoving me on top of the kids as I watched in horror her body explode before my very eyes.

Her body blew outwards, scattering chunks and peices of her around the tent, a high pitched scream echoed through the air and I only recognized it as mine. My wings were now steel and were circled around Veto and Valerie so they could not see what was going on that was making me scream so. Swift, Caden and Darius dashed into the tent and skidded to a stop as they found me in a ball with peices of skin and meat and flecks of blood scattered on me and around me. Veto and Valerie were quickly taken away as Darius picked me up since I did not respond to any of the questions that were asked, I just clutched to him as the vision of her exploding repeated in my mind over and over.

I don't know how many hours past, only that I was transferred from Darius's arm onto a cot where I curled into a fetal position and curled my feathers around me. I slowly came to as Howl whined when I sat up and shakely made my way to my feet, everyone stared at me as I stepped out of the tent with concern and worry etched onto their faces. I stared blankly at them before turning and wandering through the camp, Howl followed me like the loyal companiont hat she was. After wandering around for a while I finally collected my thoughts before heading back to the tent, "What happened?" I asked them the moment I arrived.

"A spy was sent in by the council, they planted a bomb in Minevira(Mi-ne-vir-a), we have already eliminated the threat," Darius said with a slight snarl to his voice, "You mean you've killed them?" I asked bluntly causing Caden to wince at the harshness of my tone. "Yes," was Swift's reply as I plopped down on a bench beside Darius and looked down at my hands, I was unable to stop the scene from replaying over and over in my head. "Why target her?" I asked softly, that was the one question that kept on popping up in my head, "Because she was our healer, take away our healer and we have no one to heal us when we are sick, or anyone to take care of our wounded," Caden said in a defeated tone.

I clenched my fist in anger, so much that the nails cut into my palms and causing dark red drops of blood to drip from my clenched fist. "What a low blow! Why would they do that! It would be just an easy fight for them to win! It's like they cheated," I snarled glaring down at the ground with so much heat I expected it to slowly melt. "Why does a man kill another, why does the earth revolve around in this direct order, why did the Codexians begin to hate the humans! I guess we will never know the answers to these questions," Caden said with a shrug.

My body went rigid as a pounding headache began to throb in my head, I hissed and clutched my head and crouched low as a rain of memeories entered my head. My eyes popped open as I jerked my head up, "I know," I whispered, "Know what?" Caden asked with wide eyes causing me to turn and look at the three, "I know how to heal."
