The Sun Summoner

A/N: This is me slandering the darkling and creating a fanfiction where he dates the person he belongs with- the volcra. No effort was put into writing this. I don't even know what plot I'm going for.

Volcra felt a sense of dread as word reached The Fold about a supposed sun summoner. This is exactly what they feared. Alexsander- The Darkling, promised that Volcra would be safe in The Fold. He promised nothing would come between them, but it turns out 500 years, and now someone who could destroy the fold, had fallen between them.

Volcra went on dates, sure, but no one kissed them the same way that Alexsander once did. No one created a fold of land for Volcra to live in. It got to the point where they wondered if anyone would create those same feelings that Alexsander once did and if Alexsander would ever feel those things again.

Volcra tucked their wings around them, watching as the shadows moved around them, protecting them from the lands of Ravka. That was the thing they could thank Alexsander for. They could remember that day 500 years ago.

"Don't leave me," Volcra begged, grabbing The Darkling with a sharp claw. Alexsander looked back pitifully, his black cape flowing in the wind that seemed to follow him wherever he went. He

"I have no choice, my love," Alexsander whispered, kissing Volcra's bald skin with a sad smile on his perfect face. Volcra felt tears in their dark eyes. "I have to go manipulate girls who are one-fifth my age. But I will come back for you. I promise."

Volcra shook their head, "You don't understand, Alexsander. They'll kill me if they see me. I'm hideous," Volcra let out a breath they didn't know they were holding as Alexsander lifted their head towards his, forcing Volcra to make eye contact with the fine specimen in front of them. How could someone like Alexsander love someone like them?

"I'll protect you, my love," Alexsander whispered in Volcra's ear, his breath hot against Volcra's face. Volcra couldn't help but blush, their face turning a dark red colour as they watched Alexsander let go. Volcra raised a nonexistent eyebrow as they watched Alexsander.

Suddenly, a dark shadow surrounded them. Volcra gasped, watching as Alexsander lifted his hands, enveloping both him and his lover in a dark fog that blocked out all of Ravka around them. The sounds of children and women screaming seemed to leave Alexsander unphased, but Volcra couldn't help but feel a bit of pity for them, though the scent of their blood distracted Volcra from stopping Alexsander.

"Now, you will be surrounded by me all the time, my love," Alexsander said, holding Volcra's tentacle as they walked through the darkness. Everything was dark to Volcra except the sight of Alexsander as he led Volcra, his kefta floating behind him like a flag of his love. Volcra felt ashamed for not bothering to wear clothes for the occasion. Clothing companies didn't like to cater to Volcra's kind.

"What will we call it?" Volcra asked, looking at their surroundings. They gasped as they saw other volcra's flying around, their voices sounding like those they had heard screaming earlier. What a strange coincidence! Volcra thought. Alexsander didn't seem to acknowledge the other volcras like Volcra was the only volcra in the world.

"We'll call it the Shadow Fold," Alexsander said, glancing up proudly at what he had created. Volcra smiled, kissing the top of Alexsander's head. "Volcra?"

"Yes?"

"You and I are going to change the world," Alexsander announced fondly, lifting his arms as the shadow fold invited him in. "I must leave now. But I will come back. I love you, my sweet Volcra."

He left the fold before Volcra could say it back. Now, he had yet to come back.

Volcra had met the sun summoner indirectly- "accidentally' killing one of her friends. Maybe two. Alexsander would pardon Volcra of their war crimes though, so they felt no remorse as they slaughtered the people on their makeshift ship, watching as the others cried out and begged to leave the fold- Volcra's fold.

Volcra sighed, grabbing a pen from their desk. Alexsander had never bothered to send a letter back, but Volcra had also never had the opportunity to send the mail. Fold Mail didn't exist- not since the last volcra and human relationship.

"Dear Alexsander," Volcra said out loud before beginning to write their letter, their claws stumbling to hold the flimsy pen that's ink was made of human blood- Volcra could thank the sun summoner for that blood.

Dear Alexsander,

It's been 500 years since we last spoke. I'm beginning to think you forgot about me. I even learned proper grammar for you which was pretty hard, ya know? Not many volcras speak fluent English. I miss you. I have missed you every single day. I wake up in the morning thinking of your luscious lips and go to bed thinking about those final words you said to me and how I wish I could see you again and show you how much I love you. Maybe someday I'll get out of the fold and see you. But you're probably with that sun summoner. She's prettier than me, so I guess it makes sense. She's way younger than you though, one volcra said she's 17-  is that true? You realize you can't date a 17-year-old, right?

I love you, Alexsander. You probably moved on, but I will never move on. No one gets me like you. As long as the fold exists, I will know you love me- or at least you did at one point. I'm ok with it being a thing of the past. Anyone would be lucky to be loved by you.

I love you to the fold and back,

Volcra xoxo

Volcra realized they were crying as they wrote, wiping away a tear with a sharp, bloodstained claw.

Volcra knew what they needed to do.

Volcra needed to kill the sun summoner before she destroyed the only piece of Alexsander they could call their own.
