"Yea, we knew each other from highs-" I start.
"We used to date back in high school," Vinnie interrupts, making me raise my eyebrows, questioning why he's lying, "I never really did get over her."
The girls look at each other, then over to me, then back to each other. There's a total shock in their expression, with an obvious hint of jealously at the information that Vinnie just shared.
They nod understandingly, however they still look over towards me with confusion.
"You used to date this Sav?" Jenna asks again, "like this one?"
"Yea, she was my first and last girlfriend, I see her every time I come back." he clarifies, although they still look bewildered.
"Sav!" Olivia squeals, playfully nudging me, "you never told me about that!"
Squinting my eyes, I can't understand why she's acting like we're best friends, as if it would get her any closer to Vinnie.
I say nothing and she gets the memo, directing her attention back to Vinnie.
"Well I'm Liv and this is Jenna," she introduces them, shaking hands with Vinnie and beginning to engage in small talk.
I keep to myself, softly laughing at the interaction between the three of them. Olivia and Jenna look over the moon about the whole situation, and Vinnie just looks straight up annoyed.
They badger him with questions about L.A. and his other famous friends, whose names I remember from Tiktok as well.
Their obsession with Vinnie draws attention and it's not soon before other girls start coming up to him as well, asking for pictures. He happily takes the pictures and signs the autographs, and I can tell how much he truly loves his supporters. That is, his supporters other than Olivia and Jenna, who seem to just care about his clout.
"Hey Sav," he calls as Olivia stops talking for a minute, "wanna go back to mine?"
I am confused by his question, not knowing whether he was just saying it to get me away from the girls, or truly meaning it. Realizing that I was overthinking it and he probably was just going to take me home.
"Yeah sure." I quickly nod, signaling the bartender to let me know the bill.
"I got it, baby," he speaks up, and I almost spit out the end of my drink in surprise.
Okay shit, I was not expecting that.
"Baby?" Olivia pouts, and I turn my head to see her and Jenna looking at each other with shock in their eyes.
"Oh fuck sorry," he fakely apologizes, "used to call her that before she dumped me."
"She dumped you?"
"I mean what do you expect?" he shrugs after handing the bartender a $20, "she's like the hottest girl in this room, she could have any guy better than me."
"Uh," Olivia giggles, obviously finding the part where Vinnie called me hot, funny for some reason. I, on the other hand, I can't quite tell if he's being genuine, or just doing this to help me get back at them.
"Well we should go," she quickly stands, and I follow his actions.
"But Sav!" Olivia whimpers, "you came with us!"
I look at Vinnie, not knowing what to say.
"I'll drop her to you tomorrow I guess after we're done."
"What?" Jenna questions, "done what?"
Vinnie just smiles, waving goodbye, before taking my hand and pulling me towards the exit. My mind was in shambles trying to figure out what the actual hell was going on, and why he left them thinking we were probably going to have sex.
